¡Hola a todos! Existen lugares donde podemos estar, existen lugares que en ocasiones son necesarios para refrescarnos y olvidarnos de todo. ¿Cuál es ese todo? Quizás las dudas que tenemos o surgen en algún momento, por eso simplemente me fui a donde quería estar.
The place I am going to share with you is the Obelisk in the city of Barquisimeto, at the time one of the most important works of Latin America and built in the fifties of the twentieth century. This site, in theory, would mark the position of the center of spatial growth of the city, but in reality it did not end this way. It is a great urban landmark, one that intertwines with the space in a very complementary way.
El lugar que voy a compartir con ustedes es el Obelisco en la ciudad de Barquisimeto, en su momento una de las obras más importantes de América latina y construida en la década de los cincuenta del siglo XX. Este sitio, en teoría, marcaría la posición del centro de crecimiento espacial de la ciudad, pero en realidad esto no término de este modo. Es un gran hito urbano, uno que se entrelaza con el espacio de una manera muy complementaria.
If you ask me, why go to this place? It is one of the most important works of architecture in Barquisimeto, in theory it is an urban intertwined obelisk, which would function as a viewpoint, but it is currently closed to the public (this is for many years). The reasons undoubtedly must be to preserve the structure.

Es una de las obras de arquitectura más importantes de Barquisimeto, en teoría es un obelisco entrelazado urbanamente, el cual, funcionaría como un mirador, pero este en la actualidad se encuentra cerrado al público (esto es desde hace muchos años). Las razones indiscutiblemente deben ser en razón de preservar la estructura.
I wanted to capture the iconic twilight sky above it with my camera, but these would not generate. The confluence of lighting was wonderful in each of the photos, regardless. The sky did form a composition of diverse tonalities that intertwine with the space, in perspective, it is a beautiful place to spend a nice afternoon and enjoy in a connected way with its surroundings and the dynamics in this one.
Quería capturar con mi cámara el emblemático cielo crepuscular encima de él, pero estas no se generaban. La confluencia de la iluminación era maravillosa en cada una de las fotos, a pesar de todo. El cielo si formó una composición de diversas tonalidades que se entrelazan con el espacio, en perspectiva, es un lugar hermoso para pasar una buena tarde agradable y disfrutar de manera conectada con sus alrededores y la dinámica en este.
The first thing I did was to observe, and enjoy, I think the most wonderful thing about this was to see the integration of the obelisk with a high amount of buildings, is that to be exact near it is an elevated road that contrasts with this.

One of the reasons I went to this obelisk was to disconnect, and smile a little; that is, to have a totally different afternoon. Una de las razones por las que fui a este obelisco fue para desconectarme, y sonreír un poco; es decir, tener una tarde totalmente distinta. Esto es algo que también cualquier persona puede hacer acá, también se puede hacer ejercicio en uno de los parques aledaños, o simplemente ir a conversar con alguien de una manera tranquila. Lo mejor de todo es que es entretenido por la forma del espacio y la tranquilidad a pesar de la circulación de vehículos en los alrededores.

El obelisco posee un reloj gigante en la parte superior que debería precisar la hora, pero esta paralizado. En los costados posee escudos, en la parte trasera la fecha en que se fundó la ciudad, que es 1552 y en la que se construyó este que fue en 1952; es decir, 400 años después. ¿Peculiar? No esta obra urbana modular es un regalo a la ciudad por este acontecimiento tan cautivador, y lo mejor, es ese reflejo de nostálgico que esboza.
The front part of the obelisk, has some stairs, and at the end of them at a high point, its old entrance. I climbed each of the steps very carefully, I actually suffer from vertigo, even so, it is something controllable and I wanted to see the old entrance and the plaque above the obelisk door up close.
La parte delantera del obelisco, posee unas escaleras, y al final de ellos en un punto elevado, su antigua entrada. Subí cada uno de los escalones con mucho cuidado, en realidad sufro de vértigo, aun así, es algo controlable y quería ver de cerca la vieja entrada y la placa que se ve encima de la puerta del obelisco.

In the surroundings of this architectural monument of the city, there is a small establishment where they sell fast food, sweets, ice cream and drinks. It is built and designed by means of a container, this is something very striking, because it is mixed with the cultural nostalgia of the space due to its modernity. In the store there is a high amount of local snacks, but I only bought something to snack on, a chocolate cake and a light drink.
En los alrededores de este monumento arquitectónico de la ciudad, hay un pequeño establecimiento en donde venden comida rápida, dulces, helados y bebidas. Está construido y diseñado por medio de un container, esto es algo muy llamativo, porque se mezcla con la nostalgia cultural del espacio debido a su modernidad. En el local hay una alta cantidad de bocadillos de la localidad, pero sólo compré algo para merendar, un pastel de chocolate y una bebida ligera.
The attention in the establishment is very cordial, also the prices are very moderate according to what I noticed and the light things I consumed. Always the way in which the service is provided in an establishment is important; of course, also the quality of what is consumed. I cannot deny that the cake was delicious.

The view of the place is connected to the obelisk, that is to say, one that is overwhelming and attractive. At the end of the meal it started to get dark and I took the opportunity to walk around the whole place and tour it.
La vista del local está conectada con el obelisco, es decir, una que es abrumadora y atractiva. Al culminar de comer comenzó a oscurecer y aproveché para rodear todo el lugar y recorrerlo.
When the sunlight goes down, the first thing you notice is the high number of people passing by in a quiet way and more in order to enjoy the space. One that catches you and tells you to stay and enjoy the scene with a dynamic night of smiling with people who are there.
Al ocultarse la luz del sol, lo primero que se puede notar es la alta cantidad de personas que transcurren por este de una manera tranquila y más en razón de disfrutar del espacio. Uno que te atrae y te dice que te quedes a disfrutar la escena con una dinámica noche de sonrisa con personas que están allí.
The best of all is how the obelisk is seen from different angles, the lighting at night is very striking and visually highlights its imposing construction. For me this is the power of the identity of a great work, one that has a great historical value and also converges in many ways with everything that is there, yes, surrounding it all.
Lo mejor de todo, es como se ve el obelisco desde los diversos ángulos, la iluminación de noche es muy llamativa y hace resaltar su imponente construcción visualmente. Para mi este es el poder de la identidad de una gran obra, una que posee un gran valor histórico y que además converge de muchas formas con todo lo que está ahí, eso sí, rodeándolo todo.
Beauty is in what we least think about, beauty is in being able to see each space for its value and what it symbolizes.
La belleza está en lo que menos pensamos, la belleza está en poder ver cada espacio por su valor y lo que simboliza.
