Hi my friend ,
today I want to introduce you to Lapedona, one of the beautiful villages in the province of Fermo in the southern area of the Marche region
I drive my car along the highway towards southern Italy and take the "Fermo-Porto San Giorgio" exit, and head for about 10/15 minutes towards the interior of the area.
So I arrive in Lapedona, an ancient and well-preserved village of about 1200 inhabitants with a unique town hall that even houses Roman remains, once I get my car around the ancient walls following the signs for parking, I leave my car in one of the highest areas of the country and I start walking.
Immediately I find myself among towers, churches and centuries-old houses completed by beautiful landscapes.
Walking down a small street, I immediately find myself in front of the ancient walls and the "Porta Marina", a beautiful and ancient entrance to the center of the medieval town… how wonderful !!!
I pause for a while to observe it and to observe beautiful landscapes ranging from the sea to the Sibillini mountains.
I head to the city center through small streets that are just as wide as cars, getting lost in alleys, arches, old houses that have been professionally restored by the inhabitants who have preserved their ancient charm.
The streets are very nice with corners made even more beautiful by plants and flowers.
Places such as schools, post offices and pharmacies are also housed in ancient buildings.
After visiting the first part of the town for a while, I head towards the beautiful sixteenth-century town hall that overlooks the small but beautiful Piazza San Lorenzo walking through ancient streets and beautiful landscapes that force you to stop for a moment.
The ancient town hall is beautiful and unique, on the ground floor it is composed of a beautiful portico with arches that host a beautiful funerary "cippo" (made as part of a column) from the Roman era ... what a surprise and how beautiful, to I like a lot of historical things.
Connected to the portico of the town hall there is another beautiful entrance to the town, also historic, called Porta "Da Sole" !!!
This part also retains its beautiful original structure, a centuries-old structure ...
Also to be admired is the beautiful Piazza San Lorenzo with its characteristic fountain and the ancient houses that surround it together with the church of San Lorenzo.
I continue passing in front of the town hall heading to the other ancient part of the town that remains to be seen, this area is also very beautiful with ancient fortified walls with a walkway where it is possible to skirt them and at the same time enjoy landscapes seeing the hills and the nearby city of Fermo, the provincial capital and another beautiful city.
As in any village in these areas, there is no shortage of cats who will keep you company during your tour of the country.
I continue walking under the walls, very nice are also the playgrounds for children and a small labyrinth.
Lapedona is a small town with however several things to see, ideal for spending a few hours and absolutely worth a visit.
Completing the tour of the walls I find myself in my car and leave again but the surprises are not over !!!
Even the road is beautiful all through the hills with beautiful views of the sea, there are also families and farms that sell products such as oil and wine produced in the place until I find shortly after the village the beautiful church called "Church of the Madonna del Manù ".
Think of this church as almost a thousand years old !!! The part around the church is also very pleasant and well cared for with natural benches where you can enjoy some shade on very hot days.
Really beautiful Lapedona, but now unfortunately I have to say goodbye hoping to be able to come back here soon, I recommend you to visit this place because it is really worth it.
I get in the car and after traveling a few kilometers I find myself on the Adriatic state road and resume my way home.
All the photos you see are taken by me and the things told are the story of my experience here and my emotions !!
See you soon, I have other places to let you know
