Love - in one's Salad days

Hello everyone! This is @lorelei.cortes. It took me awhile to get my thoughts together and start to doodle.

The past few months haven’t been so easy to get by but hell, my life has always been a mess since so why the surprise?

Let me tell you a story of young love. It is simple and yet totally, eye-catching and heartwarming.

She was 12 years old when she laid eyes on the first man who made her heart melt. Skip beats! You could say she was too young to decipher if it was really love or just plain infatuation. What really mattered was that she was happy. Nothing could tame a heart so young of the gentleness it felt towards another beautiful creature. He was 4 years her senior. He said that the naïve girl got his attention with her neatly-pressed school uniform and the smile that showed off her youthfulness. He thought she was timid. Or, wasn’t I?

Instead of sharing moments of affection together, they shared glimpses of each other as time was so fleeting and never was on their side. Days were merrier and brighter knowing that both would see each other on the school campus. Her greatest memory was how she would wait on the balcony of where she lived hoping to catch a sight of him in the afternoon after school. They never had much but she held on to the idea that her love was requited. But, alas, in the truest sense of the word, nothing lasts forever. Just like time, he just faded without saying goodbye. She, on the other hand, went on with her life with that chapter in her life neatly hidden in one corner of her heart.

Three decades have passed and out of the blue, she met him again. He was still the same man, she fell in love with years ago. But this time, both have hands all tied up. That meet-up made her realize how broken she was. Old wounds started to show up. Forgiveness was easy and yet the process was entirely difficult. Yes, she was too young for that love she genuinely offered but it wasn’t enough, or perhaps, she was not enough. He looked the other way may be wanting for more which she could not give. She never realized that till now. First love gave her the first heartbreak and yet, such experience can be enduring and unforgettable. That emotion may have left a tangible ache in her psyche and perhaps, it would be the same emotion that will give her healing. She would always be thankful to that man who gave her the idea that love can be idyllic.

Love in its myriad forms can make or break you. Nevertheless, we set aside logic and take part of that remarkable feeling because it makes us happy and sentimental. We may not always end up with that someone who is perfect for us but somewhere out there, there will always be that someone who alone can tug your heartstrings.

This is all for now. It feels so good to be back.
