This is commonly called "The Web".

The World Wide Web is a collection of websites, pictures, videos and other online content that can be accessed via a Web browser. It runs on the Internet, which is the underlying infrastructure.

It is the medium that allows information to be shared. The Web is a network of online content that is formatted in HTML and accessed via HTTP.

Tim Berners-Lee, a contractor at CERN, was the one who developed it in 1991.

It is accessed by connected devices:

  • tablets
  • laptops
  • personal computers (PC)
  • smartphone
  • Internet-of-Things (IoT)

There are a few iterations:

The World Wide Web opened the use of the Internet to average users, moving beyond IT and other specialized individuals.
