Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones is a 2002 American epic space opera film directed by George Lucas and written by Lucas and Jonathan Hales. It is the fifth film in the Star Wars film series and the second chronological chapter of the "Skywalker Saga". The film stars Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Samuel L. Jackson, and Christopher Lee.
The plot of the movie revolves around Obi-Wan Kenobi's investigation of a mysterious assassination attempt on Senator Padmé Amidala, which leads him to uncover a separatist movement encompassing hundreds of planets and powerful corporate alliances that pose new threats to the galaxy that even the Jedi cannot stem. Meanwhile, Anakin Skywalker is assigned to protect Padmé and discovers his love for her as well as his own darker side. Soon, Anakin, Padmé, and Obi-Wan Kenobi are drawn into the heart of the Separatist movement and the beginning of the Clone Wars.
Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones is a decent film for fans of the Star Wars saga, and certainly better than The Phantom Menace, but it still doesn't break much new ground. Compared to the colorful entertaining space opera of the first trilogy, it's rather dull and predictable.
