alternatetext

The film Quigley Down Under is about a veteran American rifleman named Matthew Quigley (Tom Selleck) who is hired by an Australian rancher named Elliot Marston (Alan Rickman) to kill a group of Aboriginal Australians. Quigley is initially hesitant to accept the job, but he is eventually persuaded by the high pay and the promise of a new life in Australia.

Once Quigley arrives in Australia, he quickly realizes that Marston is not the man he seemed to be. Marston is a ruthless and cruel man who is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Quigley also learns that the Aboriginal Australians are not the savages that Marston has portrayed them to be.

Quigley eventually decides to side with the Aboriginal Australians and help them to defend themselves against Marston and his men. The film culminates in a showdown between Quigley and Marston, in which Quigley emerges victorious.

Quigley Down Under is a Western film that explores the themes of colonialism and redemption. It is a well-made film with strong performances from Selleck and Rickman. The film was directed by Simon Wincer and was released in 1990.
