Camilla Dickinson is a 2012 American drama film directed by Cornelia Duryée and starring Adelaide Clemens, Samantha Mathis, Gregg Sulkin, and Cary Elwes. The film is based on the 1951 novel of the same name by Madeleine L'Engle.
It follows Camilla Dickinson, a 15-year-old girl living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in 1948. Camilla is a sheltered and introspective girl, and she often feels out of place in her social circle. She also has a difficult relationship with her parents, who are often more concerned with their own lives than with her needs.
One day, Camilla meets Frank Rowan, the rebellious brother of her best friend. Frank is everything that Camilla is not: he is confident, outgoing, and carefree. Camilla is immediately drawn to him, and they quickly begin a secret relationship.
As Camilla's relationship with Frank deepens, she begins to explore her own identity and desires. She also starts to question the social norms of her time and place. Camilla's journey of self-discovery is not without its challenges, but she eventually learns to stand up for herself and to live her life on her own terms.
Camilla Dickinson is a beautifully made and moving film about a young woman's coming-of-age. It is a story about love, loss, and self-discovery. The film has been praised for its strong performances, its lush cinematography, and its faithful adaptation of L'Engle's novel.
