Memories of the Vatican

When I told my friends that I was going to Italy, they were surprised because I had never mentioned this country before. As I decided so I did it and I do not regret my decision.

I have visited several regions, but in this article I will describe the Vatican

Vatican. My feelings about this place.
We all know the saying 'move like in Rome' to travel by car you need a lot of time and patience if you live a few km from the center. Therefore, the best way are means of communication, to avoid traffic jams I chose the metro.
I allocated two days to conquer the Vatican.

Vatican City State that everyone knows. For me, a state of mystery, love and crime. I couldn't wait to see this place. I watched television a billion times, after watching the movie Angels and Demons, I knew this city, I have never been there.
As I approached the Vatican, I saw a huge queue to enter. I wasn't chosen, so I had to stand. Standing, I noticed many beggars, Chinese stalls, shouting people. The queue went smoothly. When I reached the goal, it was necessary to remove metal things, watches, belts, put everything in a backpack. Normal forms of security understood by everyone.
When I crossed the gate, I suddenly felt great disappointment when I saw Great Peter's Square, which seemed huge on TV, and actually it was not so big, everything looked different than in my imagination.

The Order is guarded by the Swiss Guard, they cannot be missed, cabaret uniforms catch the eye from afar. They care about safety with a serious expression and devotion.

Saint Peter's Square impressed me. It was very positive to feel the atmosphere among people from around the world with different denominations and skin color. Languages from around the world could be heard, and I was cool among them :)

After a close look at the square, it was time for St. Peter's Basilica.

Inside the basilica there is another chapter, here the art lover will know everything.
Beautiful paintings, frescoes, sculptures that survive and invite with their beauty from the door.

There are many graves, crypts of the popes in the basilica.
For us, however, undoubtedly the most important is the tomb of Pope John Paul II or Karol Wojtyła.

At the tomb of John Paul II I stayed for a longer time, a moment of reflection, a short prayer, paying homage.

Some graves are particularly eye-catching

One of the most interesting figures is the Statue of Saint Peter, which tourists touch and kiss on the foot.
You are not allowed to take close-up photos.

Day two

Wednesday's general audience at St. Peter's Square.
Being the Vatican and not visiting the Pope is like being in Paris and not visiting the Eiffel Tower. I didn't get to know our Polish, so on the second day I went again to St. Peter's Square.
Again, going through security procedures, squeezing through the crowd, because there are many more people than the day before. Looking for the right place and waiting for the pope.
Everyone wanted to take at least one photo, I stood at the gate, although you never know which way it will go. Although I don't believe fanatically, it was nice to see him live. The atmosphere was unique. People from all over the world.

There is a post office in the Vatican, I don't know if I was unlucky, I sent two cards, none came. : D

Summary
The Vatican is the seat of the church, a destination for pilgrimages, but we must remember that it is the smallest country in the world that holds the greatest secrets. The wealth he possesses did not always come from the gifts of the faithful. During the war, the Vatican was silent, even though people died in the gas chambers. After the war, he smuggled German criminals. They preach about poverty with billions and extra wealth in works of art. They hide church pedophiles, smuggling and even crime.
