I remember a very old movie from 1988. “Coming to America” It’s the story of an African prince who went against his father’s wishes by going to America in search of Love. In the year 2021 the part 2 of that movie was released where that young prince became a king, and was about forcing his own son (who had been living in America) to marry a lady of His choosing. The major reason his son went against his orders was because the lady he wanted him to marry was always agreeing to everything he wanted. At one point they were at a party and he told this lady to wait for him while he took his father’s private Jet and ran away (back to America). This lady was ready to stand in that position waiting for him, just because He said so.
He had to ask her at one point what she wanted to do in life, And her reply was anything he wished her to do. He even asked her what her hobbies were and she replied her hobbies were his hobbies. This was all because she had spent all her life doing whatever she was told to do. She was never allowed to want anything for herself only to take orders like a robot. And truth be told I’ve met some guys who feel a lady should always do whatever she's told to do without question. There are ladies who in this generation believe that they have to say yes to whatever their husbands say without complaining if they want peace in their home.
Men are not demi-gods over women, especially not in the family setting. Even though I am not married, from the questions I've asked older couples whose marriages have lasted over 30 years I’ve discovered that a lot of marriages last when the man listens to his wife. Not because he doesn’t have an opinion, but because it takes two to make a marriage work. I always say submission is not slavery, it is power under control. And being the head is not being authoritative and always making the decisions, it is about giving others the ability to lead and when they do so they lead with your strength (the man) with a goal of making the family work.
