This is the #55th edition of the "Week through Adrian's Lenses" weekly Hive and crypto news roundup.

Let's see what we have for this week.

Week on Hive

In the Spotlight

Rebellion Conflicts Were Released into the Splinterlands

Airdrops at regular pack sales milestones were introduced by Splinterlands since the Untamed edition. Conflicts is a gamified way to have access to airdrops that were introduced with the new main edition of cards, Rebellion.

To participate in Conflicts, one needs:

  • Mage Wagon(s), purchasable for Vouchers (best option), DEC, or credits
  • Owned Rebellion cards or packs to stake in Wagons

Every 30 days, based on their Reward Chances, players receive their airdrops. Cards staked in Wagons can be used to play (except on Land), but not rented out, traded, delegated, etc.

Rebellion Conflicts were released this week. They were also one of the main talking points of the recent town hall.

Governance / Development / Dapps

Peak Open Creates the First Version of Open Polls Protocol

A protocol is not project-dependant, and, if it is adopted widely on Hive, we have a chance to see it integrated into many interfaces, and developed further, based on feedback and the various needs of the applications and people using it.

We also know polls on Inleo haven't been working in a while. Without knowing anything at all and simply speculating, I'd say they wait for this protocol to integrate into Inleo too, instead of fixing the solution they had implemented and having a polling solution incompatible with the rest of Hive.

Here is the presentation post.

Khal Discusses the Benefits of Leo Premium

Khal talks about the benefits of Leo Premium and how it translates into buy pressure for HIVE and LEO, besides the perks that come with the subscription.

Value 4 Value (V4V) Updates

@brianoflondon made a video presentation of the v4v.app, going through all the features, including the new history screens he added for the Point-of-Sale (POS) side of the app.

He is asking for feedback, and also, would like to see a Spanish subtitle of his video.

Also, v4v.app has been translated into Brazilian Portuguese and the Lightning transaction limits have been lowered from 500,000 sats (200 HBD) to 250,000 sats (100 HBD).

Proposal to Update the Hive Developer Documentation

@good-karma created a DHF proposal asking for 150 HBD daily for 7 months, to update the Hive developer documentation. The truth is the Hive developer tools and documentation are always in need of refreshing...

Two Excellent Guides from Ecency

I'm not sure the title of the post "How to use Floating FAQ on Ecency?" does justice to what is presented there (watch the video for better understanding!). To me, it seems the friendliest new-user experience I've seen on Hive so far, and it seems like a lot of work went into this.

The second guide refers to Waves, Ecency's short-form content option. While in this regard, I believe InLeo's Threads is doing a much better job, I've always thought having more options is what is desirable when we speak of decentralization.

Future of the Posh Project

Acid discusses the future of the Posh project post-finalizing the claimdrop of ZING tokens to POSH holders and reveals there will be a future project Posh will be involved with in the same manner.

Marketing / Awareness / Branding

Miss Rosarito? Official Hivefest 2023 After Movie Came Out

@mynewlife finally published the official Hivefest 2023 after-movie, from Rosarito, and not only. He explains in the post why it took so long and the hard work behind it.

Creating Some Hype...

... about Hive and WOO belts. Looks like they are ready and WOO partners got a sneak peek at them.

Hive and... Hip Hop?

To support hive I plan to wear a jacket that day of the hive brand achieving with this to generate the right marketing within the hip hop movement.

Well, I thought I should squeeze this in. I'm not a big hip-hop fan (some have surprisingly good messages), but we can't ignore its impact. I have no idea about the impact of this particular event.

Games

Going Pro at Rising Star

Looks like we have a major update from the Rising Star. Once someone completes the 4th map, there will be the option to go Pro. This is a big decision, since PRO cards (which from my understanding can be leveled up), can only be used in PRO missions. Check out the details, and see if you understand things more in-depth than I did at first read.

The Week of Referral Programs Going Live

After Holozing's referral program was activated a few days ago (Acid's thoughts here), Rise of the Pixels' referral system went live soon after. Maybe it helps that @asgarth is a developer in both projects, even though the two referral systems have different parameters.

Surgent Gaming 2023 Review, 2024 Roadmap and Astral Wars Discounted Sales

We rarely can focus on more than a few things at one time effectively. That's why I like how Surgent Gaming (I believe @spiritsurge is behind this) created its year-in-review and 2024 dev roadmap to keep us up to date with what was going on. Moreover, details about its Astral Wars game and the discounted crate sales for open alpha should be useful to early adopters.

Meetings / Events / Communities

OCD Onboarding Program Does Wonders for Retention

In two separate posts of @demotruck analyzing the OCD Onboarding Program, we can see the new users brought through this method stick around longer than the averages we have on Hive. We can also track their evolution in time through cohorts.

Interviews with Spanish Witnesses

@fermionico seems to have started a series of interviews with Spanish witnesses. The ones being interviewed this week were hivecuba and empo.witness. As expected, the interviews are made for the Spanish-speaking community.

Week in the Crypto World

Get Ready For the Bitcoin Pump!

JPMorgan came out with a report yesterday saying Grayscale's bitcoin selling pressure is likely over.

I kept thinking these days about the whole situation and how asset managers like BlackRock and Fidelity -who brought in quite a few dollars into bitcoin since their ETFs were approved - must look at the whole Grayscale dump situation. At first, I thought they liked it because that's a way to buy bitcoin cheaper, but on second thought, how do you explain to customers that as soon as your ETFs are approved, the asset goes down instead of up? That's an image I don't think they want to be associated with their ETFs. None of the firms involved. That's why I believe we will have a huge marketing push to bring funds to bitcoin, which will inevitably push the price higher. And we already see the early stages of that effort put into practice.

China Keeps Building Its CBDC While Cracking Down on Crypto

Will this be an "ideological" battle, but with the same result: control? For China and the CCCP, the CBDC solution seems suitable. For the West, a similar solution doesn't "look" good, as the smarter of them probably realized by now. But that doesn't mean the same result cannot be reached through other means, perfectly acceptable in capitalism.
