Week through Adrian's Lenses (27 February - 5 March 2023)

Week Adrian Lenses.jpg

I don't know what's truer: more things started to happen on Hive and more frequently, or I got better at identifying and tracking them. From week to week, I have more things to include in the weekly recap, and I don't even include everything.

Let's see what we have for this week's roundup.

Week on Hive

I'll start with two proofs of the benefit Hive brings to the real world, for now in areas where it's most needed and where our impact can be greatly felt by regular people around the world.

Talking about Hive in Venezuela at Crypto Maniacs

@edmundochauran from Hive Sucre (in Venezuela) was invited to Crypto Maniacs together with @jonsnow1983 to talk about the adoption of Hive in Sucre. HIVE and HBD are now directly supported by 21 businesses in that area (mostly food-related, but they have plans to approach suppliers next), which means those businesses have accounts on Hive, and transactions are made from account to account, without 3rd parties. Hive Projects in Ghana 2023

@mcsamm put out an announcement about the status of the Hive Projects in Ghana this year (Hive-branded boreholes, books, merchandise, and others), sponsored by the DHF via the @valueplan.

PsyberX

There are quite a few interesting posts about @psyberx:

Introducing Project Hybrid

@spiritsurge introduced Project Hybrid, which will be a set of analytical and development tools for Unity game developers on Hive and HAF.

New Hive-Tube Plugin Minor Version Release

This Hive-Tube plugin by @agorise reached version 7.13. I don't follow the project, but I thought it deserves a spot in this weekly roundup. This is their announcement. The previous announcement was in January with version 7.2, which makes me think 7.2 is 7.02 and not 7.20.

New Combined Building from dCity

dCity team announced a new combined building (Modern Home) and also updates regarding student education and experiments costs.

BROfund Presents Last Year's Achievements

Reporting is always good to see. Here's @brofund talking about their achievements last year:

Week in the Cryptocurrency World

I don't believe the week in crypto was as bad as the following news would lead one to believe.

Silvergate Capital Misses SEC Annual Report Filing

The bank, which was used by many crypto businesses, missed the regular SEC annual report filing and asked for extra time. Its stock price plunged and the crypto market was hit too. Since then, many crypto businesses quickly cut ties with Silvergate. Here are some more details:

Coinbase Will Suspend Trading BUSD

Starting from March 13th Coinbase will suspend trading Binance USD on their platform. This likely is related to the issues BUSD issuer Paxos has with SEC, but it isn't an uncommon practice among CEXes to not support coins directly linked to their competition.

Robinhood subpoenaed by SEC in December 2022

Strange that we hear about it this week, if the subpoena is from December. But whatever. Here are the details.
