Native attires are one of the most treasured and priceless heritage aside languages in Africa especially soutwest Nigeria i.e. the Yorubas. Native attires since the olden days has been a source of pride and dignity as various genders has its own unique attires. One of the things that attracted the colonial masters in Africa and thrilled them alot is when they put on the native (local) attires of the natives. Native attires are useful in identification as different ethnicities within a tribe has peculiar attires attached to them. Also, many ceremonies like wedding, burial, coronation, birthday celebration etc are all beautified by the local attires adorned by the celebrants and relatives. Also, local attires are been given out as gifts which is well appreciated and celebrated by both the receiver and giver.
In addition, native (local) attires are a major source of wealth for as many that produces it especially in commercial quantities. Infact, some families are known prominently for native cloth production right from sourcing the fabric material to its sewing it and to its packaging. The biological heritage of an individual can be linked to his/her native attire been put on. For example, a yoruba man/woman from Nigeria can be easily distinguished from an Ibo man/woman from the same country (Nigeria) by their different and distinguished attires aside their their local languages and dialects. This shows how strong the local attire imparts on the biological identification of individuals which applies to other countries of the world aswell.
The native cloth merchandise has a great impart on the economic status of individual, the family involved, the town involved (as this is the prominent bussines of some towns/cities) and the nation (country) at large. Infact, tourists attraction to these towns/cities has positively imparted on the economy of these places. For example, there is a town known majorly for "aso-oke" production in Nigeria which is a native attire. Therefore, our heritage is our pride and our beauty lies in it with its great impart on our culture, finances and biological relations. Thank you.
