Freedom Money, Not fuck you money

My friends and I talk about money a lot. If we’re not talking about crazy stupid ideas, money is almost all we talk about when we meet. I’ve never really paused to think of how much money exactly would suffice for the things we've always wanted. But if I had to categorize how much money that would be in a category of wealth, I would say it falls under Freedom Money.

10 months ago, I came across this post by @ anomadsoul where he talked about how he wasn’t after fuck you money, just freedom money. I agree 100% especially to his reply on X to Kelano_eth on X where Kelano basically describe what I also believe to be Freedom Money as Fuck You Money. I think that the flaw with Kelano’s definition is that what he was describing as Fuck You Money, was actually just enough money to be able to do what you want, when you want – which is exactly what anomadsoul and myself understand freedom money to be.

I think that the difference in the two categories are subtle, but still noticeable because fuck you money is more closely associated with arrogance and the desire to want to prove superiority to other people. That is not what I want at all. I want enough money to be able to live a comfortable life and give my friends and family the same. Just enough money to have freedom in every sense of the word. I guess you could say that Freedom Money can still be considered Fuck You Money since the freedom is what gives you the fuckyouability, but I am basing my categorization on why I need the money – Freedom.

What life will Freedom Money give me?

A simple life. A free life.

I get to travel where I want, when I want. Respecting God and the ocean of course. I know I won’t be crazy enough to try that titanic submarine shit or anything close to that level of stupidity or arrogance.

I get to choose my work. This will probably be my favorite thing about being that rich. That I do only the things that matter to me and the things I want.

How much am I looking at?

1 million dollars (~16million Ghana cedis) is okay

Yesterday, I just had this burning curiosity of what curation rewards were like for the biggest stake holders on Hive. I chose theycallmedan as the stakeholder to base my research on and went to check his wallet. This is one of the very bad habits the transparent nature of Hive has given me.Just looking at his curation rewards, a voice in my head said “This is it”. I wasn’t even looking at the total worth of his wallet at this point, but my conclusion was based solely on the fact that the rewards he was earning from curation was enough to create sustainable wealth and freedom money for my lifetime! With that amount of stake, I wouldn’t even worry much about what the price of Hive is much, because Hive is at 20cents now, and all that matters is how much Hive you’re getting from curation, not necessarily the price. (I understand well that investing that much would rather make you more invested in the price of Hive, but what I’m saying is that, if you’re earning as much Hive as that amount of stake will give you, the sheer amount of Hive earned will insulate you from worrying about momentary Hive dips and all that.)

At the point, I thought to now consider how much money his account worth was, to determine how much investment I would need to start up this lifetime sustainable wealth generation investment ~ $750,000. I was like, “That’s actually not even crazy money”. Funny coming from someone that sapa is dealing with mercilessly. Lol.

I know that you’re probably thinking “Ah, didn’t he say he wanted close to what Dan’s wallet is worth? Why is he mentioning more now (1 million)”? That, dear reader, is because I love round whole numbers and 1 Million is the closest one to Dan’s wallet. Pathetic, yes? I don’t care😂
