Hello everyone, dear friends,
I arrived in Karaman yesterday. I will be in Karaman for a few months due to my work and some educational situations. I will try to share the places that can be visited and seen in this province as I find the opportunity. Today at noon, I left the house with my friend to take care of our business in the bazaar. Actually, there were a lot of things to do, but we took care of everything in a two-hour period. Around four o'clock we decided to visit the famous Karaman museum.

Dün Karaman'a geldim. İşlerimden ve bazı eğitim durumlarımdan dolayı birkaç ay Karaman'da olacağım. Fırsat buldukça bu ilin gezilip görülebilecek yerlerini paylaşmaya çalışacağım. Bugün öğlen saatlerinde çarşıdaki işlerimizi halletmek için arkadaşımla evden çıktık. Aslında yapılacak işler bayağı çoktu ancak iki saatlik bir süre zarfında bütün işleri hallettik. Saat dört civarı meşhur Karaman müzesini ziyaret etmeye karar karar verdik.
I went to high school in Karaman, so I visited this museum a few times, but it has been almost eight years since I finished high school. I wanted to go back and get lost in the depths of history and inhale the atmosphere of the museum. My friend accompanied me. Although he had been living in Karaman for two and a half years, he had never visited the museum. It was a change for him too. At the entrance of the museum, the security guard greeted us with a smiling face. He told us that the museum was free of charge and reminded us of the necessary rules.
Lise eğitimimi Karaman'da almıştım dolayısıyla bu müzeyi birkaç defa ziyaret etmiştim. Ancak liseyi bitireli neredeyse sekiz yıl oldu. Tekrar gidip tarihin derinliklerinde kaybolmak, müzenin atmosferini teneffüs etmek istedim. Arkadaşım da bana eşlik etti. Kendisi iki buçuk yıldır Karaman'da yaşamasına rağmen müzeyi hiç ziyaret edememiş. Onun için de değişiklik oldu. Müzenin girişinde güvenlik görevlisi bizi güler yüzle karşıladı. Müzenin ücretsiz olduğunu dile getirip gerekli kuralları hatırlattı.
After I took my first step inside, I came across sarcophagus fragments from the Roman period. Isn't it really impressive? Although there were no proper materials in the past years, they were wonderfully crafted by human hands.
Another thing that caught my attention is that the sarcophagi in the first two pictures are presented unprotected in the middle of the hall. One can easily touch the sarcophagi with bare hands, but the attendant had warned us about this, so we just observed and took photos.
İçeriye ilk adımı attıktan sonra Roma döneminden günümüze ulaşan lahit parçaları ile karşılaştım. Gerçekten etkileyici değil mi? Geçmiş yıllarda doğru düzgün malzeme olmamasına rağmen insan eliyle harika işlenmiş.
Dikkatimi çeken diğer bir husus ise ilk iki resimdeki lahitlerin salonun hemen ortasında korumasız bir şekilde sunulmuş olması. Çıpla elle rahat bir şekilde lahitlere dokunulabilir ancak görevli bu konuda bizi uyarmıştı dolayısıyla sadece gözlemleyip fotoğraf çektik.
After observing the sarcophagi, I came across small human figures and kitchen utensils such as plates, pots and pans.
I think the human figures were prepared as ornaments at that time. It is possible to see a great example of craftsmanship as in the sarcophagi.
When we look at the kitchen utensils of the period, I think the decorations come to the fore. People attached great importance to art and decoration as well as meeting their needs.
Next to the human figures, there were three-dimensional sketches, different types of stones and small animal figures. What caught my attention in this section were the animal figures. It is possible to understand from these figures how much people valued animals at that time.
Lahitleri gözlemledikten sonra küçük boyutlarda yapılan insan figürleri ve mutfak eşyaları olan tabak, kap, tencereyi andıran gereçlerle karşılaştım.
İnsan figürleri o dönemlerde süs eşyası olarak hazırlandığını düşünüyorum. Lahitler de olduğu gibi harika bir işçilik örneğini görmek mümkün.
Dönemin mutfak araç- gereçlerine baktığımızda ise süslemeler sanırım ön plana çıkıyor. İnsanlar ihtiyaçlarını gidermenin yanında sanata ve süslemeye de büyük önem vermişler.
İnsan figürlerinin hemen yanında ise üç boyutlu kroki, farklı türlerde taşlar ve küçük boyutlarda hayvan figürleri bulunuyordu. Bu kısımda dikkatimi çeken ise hayvan figürleri oldu. İnsanların o dönemde hayvanlara ne kadar değer verdiğini bu figürlerden anlamak mümkün.
In this section, there are pilgrimage signs and the profile of Jesus Christ, symbols of Christianity. The carvings are probably made of iron or copper. What draws my attention here is that the pilgrimage signs are designed in different shapes. Frankly speaking, until today I thought that this sign was uniform.
In another photo, there is a wooden structure from ancient times. It looks like the door of a big house or it could be the door of a castle. I'm not sure because there is no information. The important part for us is the carvings of the door. How is it possible to see such a skillfully carved door that smells of art today?
Now I will talk about the place that caught my attention the most, the third image.
First of all, I apologize in advance if this photo is disturbing.
I admit that this desiccated human body looks a bit bad.
The human body exhibited here probably belongs to a woman. Because right next to it is the inscription "Miss Manazan" and there are long pieces of braided hair on the head.
Anyway, let's take a look at the coins from the Roman period and other periods. 😄
The shelves with coins are divided alphabetically and numerically. The aim is to show which period the coins belong to. This provides great convenience for visitors. Almost all the coins have human figures on them. I would like to share with you the thought I had at that moment: "How much would my life change if only one of these coins was mine"? 😄

Bu kısımda ise Hristiyanlığın sembollerinden olan hac işaretleri ve Hz. İsa profili bulunuyor. İşlemeler muhtemelen demirden yapılmış ya da bakırdan. Burada dikkatimi çeken nokta ise, hac işaretlerinin farklı şekillerde tasarlanmış olması. Açıkçası bu güne kadar bu işaretin tek tip olduğunu düşünüyordum.
Diğer bir fotoğrafta ise eski dönemlere ait ahşap bir yapı bulunuyor. Büyük bir evin kapısını andırıyor ya da kale kapısı da olabilir. Bilgi yazmadığı için tam emin değilim. Bizim için önemli olan kısım kapının işlemeleri. Günümüzde bu kadar ustalıkla işlenmiş, sanat kokan bir kapı görmek ne kadar mümkün?
Şimdi müzede en çok dikkatimi çeken yere değineceğim, üçüncü görsel.
Öncelikle bu fotoğraf rahatsızlık verdiyse şimdiden özür dilerim.
Kurumuş bu insan bedeni evet biraz kötü görünüyor, kabul ediyorum.
Burada sergilenen insan bedeni muhtemelen bir kadın bedenine ait. Çünkü hemen yanında "Manazan Güzeli" yazıyor ayrıca baş kısmının üzerinde örülmüş uzun saç parçaları bulunuyor.
Her neyse gelin Roma dönemine ve diğer dönemlere ait madeni paralara göz gezdilerelim. 😄
Paraların bulunduğu raflar alfabetik ve sayısal olarak bölünmüş. Amaç; paraların hangi döneme ait olduğunu göstermek. Bu ziyaretçilere büyük kolaylık sağlıyor. Hemen hemen bütün paraların üzerinde insan figürleri bulunuyor. O esnada içimden geçirdiğim düşünceyi sizlere de aktarmak istiyorum. "Bu paralardan sadece biri benim olsa hayatım ne kadar değişirdi"? 😄

I honestly don't think the carpets you see in the photos are from ancient times, because I have seen similar carpets in many houses in my own village. Also, many different types of colored yarns were used.
However, even though it is from a recent period, it has a very impressive appearance. It represents Anatolia. Let's come to the women's favorite section :)
There is a separate section for jewelry and ornaments. There are many ornaments from necklaces to bracelets. In my opinion, each of them is more valuable than the products in the jewelry store. I like the one on the top left the most. I don't have a girlfriend but if I did I would like to gift it to her 😄
The other part is more relevant to men. Rosaries and many other things I don't know the names of. All beautiful.
In the other photo, there is a piece of iron from the Karamanoğlu Mehmet Bey period. It was probably used as an instrument of war, but it looks very heavy. In the bottom photo, there is a small, colorful door. The harmony of the colors with each other is very beautiful. There are also different pictures in each compartment of the door.
Fotoğraflarda gördüğünüz halıların açıkçası çok eski zamanlara ait olduğunu düşünmüyorum. Çünkü bunlara benzer halıları kendi köyümde birçok evde gördüm. Ayrıca birçok farklı türde renkli iplikler kullanılmış.
Ancak her ne kadar yakın bir döneme ait olsa da gayet etkileyici bir görüntüsü var. Anadolu'yu temsil ediyor. Gelelim kadınların en sevdiği bölüme :)
Takılar ve süs eşyaları için ayrı bir bölüm hazırlanmış. Kolyeden, bilekliğe kadar birçok süs eşyası bulunuyor. Bana göre her biri kuyumcu dükkanındaki ürünlerden daha değerli. Ben en çok sol üsttekini beğendim. Kız arkadaşım yok ama olsaydı bunu ona hediye etmek isterdim 😄
Diğer kısım daha çok erkekleri ilgilendiriyor. Tesbihler ve isimlerini bilmediğim birçok eşyalar. Hepsi birbirinden güzel.
Diğer fotoğrafta ise Karamanoğlu Mehmet Bey dönemine ait, demir parçası bulunuyor. Muhtemelen savaş aleti olarak kullanılmış ama görüntü itibariyle çok ağır görünüyor. En alttaki fotoğrafta ise küçük, renkli bir kapı bulunuyor. Renklerin birbiri ile olan uyumu gayet güzel. Ayrıca kapının her bölmesinde farklı resimler var.
One of the things that caught my attention was the animal bells. Animal bells, as you know, are attached to the one at the front of the herd and wherever he goes, the herd follows him. When the herd is lost, it can be easily found by the sound of the bell. This system still continues in my region. It is mostly attached to goats. In the museum, bells belonging to many different animals were exhibited.
It is also possible to see many exhibitions in terms of clothing in the museum. Some of them are winter socks and booties. There are also local clothes.
Rifles, pistols and knives from the old periods also attract attention. They probably look very heavy compared to today's ones.
In the bottom photo, there is a section with gas lamps. I will send a prize to the person who interprets the figure of a woman with a gas lamp on her head in the most beautiful way 🙂
Gezerken dikkatimi çeken noktalardan birisi de hayvan çanları oldu. Hayvan çanı bildiğiniz üzere sürünün en önde gidenine takılır ve o nere giderse sürüde peşinden gider. Sürü kaybolduğu zaman çan sesinden rahatlıkla bulunur. Bulunduğum yörede hâlâ bu sistem devam etmekte. Daha çok keçilere takılıyor. Müzede ise farklı birçok hayvana ait çanlar sergilenmiş.
Giyim yönünden de birçok sergiyi müzede görmek mümkün. Bunlardan bazıları kışlık çoraplar ve patikler. Ayrıca yöresel kıyafetler de bulunuyor.
Eski dönemlere ait tüfekler, tabancalar ve bıçaklar da oldukça dikkat çekiyor. Günümüzdekilere göre muhtemelen çok ağır görünüyorlar.
Bir alt fotoğrafta gaz lambalarının olduğu kısım var. Kafasında gaz lambası bulunan kadın figürünü en güzel şekilde yorumlayan bir kişiye ödül göndereceğim 🙂
In the last section, there is a separate exhibition on coffee culture. As we know, coffee is a very important drink for us. We usually serve coffee to our guests. I think this culture comes from the past.
Different types of coffee pots and cups were opened to the exhibition to explain the importance of coffee in our culture.

Son bölümde ise kahve kültürü için ayrı bir sergi açılmış. Bilindiği üzere kahve bizim için çok önemli bir içecek. Misafirlere genelde kahve ikram ederiz. Sanırım bu kültür geçmişten geliyor.
Farklı türlerde cezve ve fincanlar sergiye açılarak kahvenin kültürümüzde ki önemi anlatılmaya çalışılmış.
