A threatening rainy day is not an impediment to walk around the city and admire its buildings and beauties.
In the end, it was just clouds, clouds that gave a different tone to the sky and covered the sun, but at no time did it rain, which allowed me to walk around the area of the city that corresponds to the train station and its shopping centre Vialia as well as the surroundings in the whole area.
I crossed the Avenida de la Aurora and walked along the Calle Gabriel Celaya in the direction of the large and beautiful fountain that forms a roundabout in front of the Larios Centro shopping centre.
The architecture and style of this building is very particular. When I arrived in Spain in 2018 it was not yet built and now it is an emblematic place to stroll around, to browse shops, eat in a restaurant or simply enjoy its design, art and the gardens at the entrance of the building.
It can be accessed via the side ramps or the central staircase. And from the outside you can have different views of other buildings in the area.
What I did was to walk around the rotunda admiring the different parts of this area, under the black clouds, giving the places a very particular illumination.
On this route I came to a marble sculpture which is very beautiful. The hands are very well done. It was made in homage to the health workers on the occasion of the pandemic of the year 2020. Hands are very difficult to do in painting and I imagine that in a sculpture even more so.
I walked around, as I mentioned, going round the roundabout and also taking photographs of the different areas of the central fountain, which constantly sprays water and changes its shape depending on the lighting and the angle.
The whole area is very busy and well signposted, and it is also very popular with tourists arriving in the city, as the bus station and the train station, which I will show you later, are close to this fountain. That's where I was heading.
The city seemed to be covered in a dark blanket with a few glimmers of light and rays of sunlight but very far away.
In the area where the station of Malaga Maria Zambrano and its shopping centre Vialia are located, there are also old buildings of the Spanish post office, very beautiful buildings that give a singular style to the place.
The station is always full of people coming and going. I don't only mean tourists but also people who come here to study from the villages and rent accommodation here to study at the University of Malaga. So the influx of students, especially at this time of the year, is very high.
The shopping centre is very beautiful and luminous with spacious areas and numerous and varied shops, as well as numerous restaurants and places to eat on the first floor. Of course, there are also cafés.
The station and its shopping centre has three entrances. The one I show you is the main entrance, but on both sides there is also a way to enter.
Leaving through one of them and walking a few metres, you can see that next to the station is the famous Hotel Barceló, with a large entrance, car park, a water fountain with an iron sculpture and numerous food shops and boutiques throughout the area.
Everything is specially prepared for tourism, for easy access and convenience in terms of transport and location.
Turning back along almost the same road, I come across the beautiful water fountain from a different angle, much more beautiful and looking at other types of buildings, most of them for temporary rentals or for students. Of course also for tourists.
Surrounding the fountain and arriving again at the Larios shopping centre, there is a very beautiful green space, like a small park and although the day was cloudy it still looked very nice.
There are paths to walk along, benches, views of the city, and even sculptures.
In this case we saw the Monument to Solidarity, referring to the donation of blood, organs and everything to do with health.
Walking through the paths of this park in summer is very refreshing and in autumn it offers beautiful green colours, due to the variety of evergreen pines.
Crossing one of the many streets again, I reach the front garden of the Larios shopping centre, with more green spaces.
It has been a walk in circles but one that allows us to get to know this very neuralgic and busy area of the city.
And I bid you farewell with this view from the steps of this modern and colourful shopping centre with contemporary sculptures in front.
Best regards to all of you and see you next time.
