In a really stupid article filled with "whataboutisms" and impossibilities the author from National Review, which is a right-leaning publication, attempts to make a connection that African-Americans are homophobic.
Tobias Hoonhout is the reporter that put together this hit piece whose objective is something I can't really figure out. He put together a bunch of data from equally dumb questionnaires that propose certain situations such as "who would you vote for: Trump or (insert name of anyone else here)" and found that when the face-off happens between Trump and Buttigieg, the amount of African Americans that would prefer Trump doubles.
There are a couple of reasons why this article is dumb:
- Buttigieg has almost no chance of being the nominee
- It implies something without saying it
- The author doesn't even have the courage to come to the conclusion the article is definitely alluding to
- The author hides the fact that black Democrats surveyed still overwhelmingly supported Buttigieg in a head-to-head vs Trump
I suppose you could say that when the news is constantly calling everything racist, homophobic, sexist, whatever-phobic it gets a bit old, but at least those publications have the balls to come out and say it. This hit piece is simply a garbage article about a near impossible scenario and also basing its information on a couple hundred people surveyed and attempting to suggest the results are representative of the entire country.
