During the long winter months in NY I always find myself thinking about relocation..
And then the spring begins, swiftly followed by summer- and I remember why I don't actually hate it here in upstate NY.
In addition to the rather gorgeous scenery of the finger lakes region, there is a bounty of wineries, breweries, cideries and even distilleries for the more hardcore!
So much better than bars, these places generally feature family friendly, large outdoor picnic style areas, complete with Bocci ball or horseshoes and fire pits.
And I have a particular excuse to visit many of them, as my brother has become quite a popular choice of live music in the area :)
This particular place is awesome. My brother started playing here the year they opened, and we've watched it go through big changes...
This year that included putting in a "backstage" deck, apparently for the tokers in the crowd.
It's a little funny that despite it's legalization and most people's understanding of its safer than alcohol elements, pot still carries a greater stigma.
Perhaps it's all the years of "refer madness" and the felony possession charges it ridiculously caused, who knows, but I can't really complain when it's the nicest spot on the premises!
Completely in the shade with a view of everyone...I have a feeling the owners like to do their own toking XD
(Okay it's not just a feeling, I know the owners and they definitely do :D)
Anyone on Hive near the Rochester area who is looking for some summer fun with cool people, drop me a line and I'll keep you informed about upcoming shows!
And any friends thinking about a trip to the waterfalls and lakes and gorges of the upstate area, let me know and I'll be glad to give you the inside scoop :0)
