Dreamy Dusk Alpenglow Shadows Across the Colorado River and Mojave Desert

In this image I lensed while flying in late afternoon across the Mojave Desert south of Boulder City Nevada, you can see the long shadows of the Eldorado Mountains to the west as they play off the alpenglow colors  illuminating the ground in different hues across the horizon.

This is the Colorado River as it cuts through the harsh and rugged Mojave Desert Wilderness along of the Colorado River. The wide spot in the distance is Lake Mojave and the small mountain  on the bottom right side of the river is called Opal Mountain.

Can you see the profile of the Aztec or Mayan style eagles head created by the shapes of the desert in the turns of the river?

This is another cool image from my ongoing project in which I am trying to  raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.

Where Eagles Fly - The American Wilderness Expedition is my personal mission to introduce people to these amazing  locations that surround us.
