Meet this beautiful Komodo Dragon!

This is a komodo dragon, a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang, and Padar. It is the largest living species of lizard, growing to a maximum length of 3 metres in rare cases and weighing up to approximately 70 kilograms.

I saw them the first time in Rinca, a beautiful island in Flores where many komodo dragon still be found. Some of them are still walking around , but some look like sleeping and not moving at all. But still with their large body and their staring eye, the komodo dragon are still quite intimidating.

They're known as a dangerous animal with powerful throat muscles and razor-sharp teeth. Beside that komodo saliva contains a variety of highly septic bacteria that would help to bring down prey, and they have a venomous bite which secrete several toxic proteins. Mostly they hunt and ambush invertebrates, birds, and mammals, but there is some story when they do bite some tourist as well, when they get too close to them.

So will you steemians , still have the courage to meet the dragon ?

They're totally a beautiful creature, you feel like you step back into time when you see them, as they look a bit like a dinosaurs.

But if you're scared to see them in the wild, there's another options which is safer. I took this pictures in Bali bird, which is a better place to watch them properly from a good distance. It's not as adventurous as when you see it in the wild, but at least you're more safe and you can more relax when you took their pictures.
