In times of crisis, art is our savior (Santurce, Puerto Rico)

Puerto Rico, also affectionately known as the Enchanted Island, is currently experiencing probably the worst economic crisis of its modern History. However, and as is often the case every time a human society starts to break down, its artists come to the rescue. After several years of living in Mexico (a country where I left for seeking a more stable job), today I returned to the area of Santurce (neighborhood of the capital city of San Juan) to walk its streets, to see all the artists and artworks that have flourished there and, above all, to reconnect with a very important part of my humanity.

"This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper."

Fragment of the poem "The Hollow Men" by T.S. Elliot.
