This hospital was used by the German military during World War I and II. Nazi Party leader Adolf Hitler was also treated here because of a foot injury to World War I.
Actually, Beelitz-Heilstätten was a luxury hospital at that time. However, his aging condition was increasingly neglected until finally closed in 1994.
