Czesc! The 'shame' building. When I was in Warsaw I made some local friends, two lesbians who were obviously very liberal 'European'-minded (for better or worse) and they referred to this as the 'shame' building, as it's an obvious relic from the Soviet past. You'll see this style of building in the center of almost every major city center in the East, definitely a relic from the Soviets. The city apparently decided to keep the building and instead of knocking it down they put some jazzy lights on it. There's a park directly underneath it and a nightclub as well.
Having not ever lived under the Soviets, from an architecture perspective and the impressive size behind it, it's a beautiful building!
