Moody Carrots

What's up, Steemit!

I just love produce section of supermarkets in America. Honestly, no matter what time of the year it is, day or night, or how exotic a fruit may be, chances are, you will stumble upon it in a big box store. I think that the words America and convenience may actually be synonyms. Nowhere else in the world I've seen such an abundance of pretty much everything as well as retailers going out of their way to get your business.

Anyway, let us step back from all the store talk and focus on these gorgeous carrots, shall we?! Honestly, I am not a big carrot fan, I may eat some in a soup or Thai fried rice, but other than that, I couldn't care less about carrots: they're cheap, they're easy to grow, and more often than not it is okay if you happen to be out when cooking something that calls for them. Fact! But, when I saw these cuties, I couldn't pass them by. All the little roots coming out of them like mustache and the most beautiful color grading, it's just a dream!

I went out and dug up some dirt in my yard to emphasize their natural beauty and the rustic look I was going for. Perhaps, I should have cut one lengthwise to showcase the vibrant colors inside, but I kinda wanted them to look uniform too.

Afterwords they made a delicious side to my baked salmon, yum! One way to turn your boring carrots into a fresh and exciting dish is to char them with warm spices and fresh garlic, I use a heavy bottom grill pan for it. Serve with a drizzle of tahini, freshly chopped parsley and sesame seeds, it's the bomb!
