We did a lot of driving on the island so one morning it was time to make use of our feet.
First we went to Moorecroft Regional Park, Nanoose Bay, BC which is just south of Parksville, see the maps at end of post. It is a day use park but we did find what we decided was a heron but not an expert. It did stretch my little camera's zoom. I need to get some better gear. It was a pleasant walk. Weather was good and we had the park to ourselves.
We then headed up to Little Qualicum Falls. (see map below)
This jaunt was a bit longer and more strenuous hike than Moorecroft but well worth the time & effort. This would be a great place for a picnic as there are tables & potties at the parking lot. There were a lot more people on these trails as well.
