Roadtrip East - More from Koli National Park

I posted some of the scenery shots from Koli already but here is a bit more.

Koli is a fell, and a national park,in eastern Finland and titled to be the national view of Finland. Koli fell rises next to lake Pielinen, and is surrounded by coniferous forest. It really is a spectacular piece of nature and I no longer wonder why it is such a popular destination. I had never visited it before but it had been on my list of places to visit for ages, like numerous other nature destinations in my home country.

Koli has a lot of trails to choose from and you don’t even have to hike to the top. There is a parking lot close to the top, where you can either walk up, or take the non-stop lift. We obviously chose the lift cause it looked real fun, and then only walk around the top parts of the fell. If you are feeling fancy and wanna spend the night in Koli, there is a hotel right at the top.

We were in Koli only for the evening, and not even to view the sunset because that was so late. Koli is really easily accessible and you don't have to be a hardcore hiker to get to the good view. Though mind you, there are no railings and such around the rock faces, so you gotta be careful not to slip and fall down.

There was something pretty magical that happened right as we started to head back towards the lift and parking lot. A faint sound of a witch drum in the distance, and once we got closer to it, we also heard a beautiful voice singing with it. Pretty damn perfect for mid summer.

Shot with the Nikon D7200 and Sigma 50-100mm f1.8.
