4 years ago my Family and I arrived in Bangkok. We stayed at the Shangri-La on The Chao Phraya River where this time lapse sequence was taken.
The purpose of our trip was to attend the 100 day merit making ceremony following the death of my Father, a Thai/buddhist custom.
The year of my Father's death, we had been toying with the idea of taking the kids to Thailand for the first time (they were 7) - and are half-Thai after all. I've been a handful of times, each time superb extended trips filled with family reunions, adventure travel, food, food, and more food. Love Thailand!
My parents had emigrated to America in the 60's, unknowingly pregnant with their first child - which makes me "Made in Thailand, Born in the U.S.A.".
My wife and I had travelled to Bali together (pre-kids), so she's had a taste of Asian travel and culture - Thailand was next on her list.
Our trip provided many lasting memories and we look forward to our next visit.
