Chicago - Doing “Big City” Better

If you have ever lived in Chicago, you know that the snow is actually pretty magical even though it’s white more of the year than not, and that sunrise on Lake Shore Drive is a sight to behold and it never gets old.

My husband took this photo of The Bean just before a 5 AM film call so no one was around.

You also know that Chicago does “Big City” better than many with raised transportation (the El), free zoo, free museum days and alleys for trash that equate lovely, clean landscaped sidewalks in summer, making every neighborhood pleasant to stroll through any day of the week. And let’s not forget baseball and the green river on Saint Patrick’s day.

There is a city wide unspoken wondrous anticipation that buzzes in the air just before the first snow and just as summer arrives.

Summer in Chicago is absolutely indulgent. There is festival every weekend in one of the many neighborhoods, live music in the parks, boat rides that speed up and down the lakeside, while others take it slow down the river and offer historic facts and amazing views.

The Windy City is a foodies Utopia and a beer snob’s haven with never ending unique eateries and speak easy like bars.
