I have already published quite some posts describing the beautiful landscape surrounding us at our place of residence in Tagaytay, but especially my friends still living in Germany and the part of my family left behind there - but perhaps also one or the other Hive user(?) - are interested in how we live in our new condo now and which differences are particularly noticeable compared to the Central European way of living.
So I hope to bee able to satisfy your curiosity sufficiently with my post of today.

Ich habe ja bereits einige die uns an unserem Wohnort in Tagaytay umgebende wunderschöne Landschaft beschreibende Posts veröffentlicht, aber insbesondere meine noch in Deutschland lebenden Freunde und der dort zurückgebliebene Teil meiner Familie - vielleicht jedoch auch der ein oder andere Hive-User(?) - interessieren sich dafür, wie wir in unserem neuen Condo jetzt so leben und welche Unterschiede, verglichen mit der mitteleuropäischen Art zu wohnen, besonders auffällig sind.
Ich hoffe also, eure Neugierde mit meinem heutigen Post hinreichend befriedigen zu können.

The reason why we bought a condominium instead of a house is that as foreigners in the Philippines we are not (yet?) allowed to buy land.

Dieses Foto der Außenansicht des Gebäudes, in welchem unser Kondominium den linken Teil des oberen Stockwerks samt Dachgeschoss belegt, stammt aus einem meiner früheren Posts.
Der Grund dafür, uns statt eines Hauses eine Eigentumswohnung gekauft zu haben, ist, als Ausländer auf den Philippinen (derzeit noch?) kein Land erwerben zu dürfen.

The image on the left shows the floor plan of the lower area of our condo, while on the right you can see the top floor. The drawings (including sample furnishings) are from the construction company responsible for planning the entire complex, Don Tim Development Corporation (whose condos can also be paid for with cryptocurrencies, by the way).
With 76 square metres of living space (plus a 12 square metre parking space that we haven't used yet), the condo is not particularly large, but it is very well equipped, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape.

Die linke Abbildung zeigt den Grundriss des unteren Bereichs unseres Condos, rechts seht ihr das Dachgeschoss. Die Zeichungen (samt Beispielmöblierung) stammen von der für die Planung der gesamten Anlage verantwortlichen Baufirma, Don Tim Development Corporation (deren Condos man übrigens auch mit Kryptowährungen bezahlen kann).
Mit 76 Quadratmetern Wohnfläche (sowie einem 12 Quadratmeter umfassenden, aber von uns bisher nicht genutzten Parkplatz) ist das Condo nicht besonders groß, aber sehr gut ausgestattet, hat zwei Schlafzimmer, zwei Badezimmer und bietet einen fantastischen Ausblick auf die uns umgebende Landschaft.

Although the water in Tagaytay is considered comparatively clean, it is safer - as in most regions of South East Asia - to filter it beforehand, a job that is done by an "Ecosphere Water Purifier" screwed onto the tap, using UV light among other measures. Using a filter like this is not cheap, but good for health and environment (it saves on the enormous quantities of plastic bottles that would otherwise be needed, which we do not use at all anymore). |
Obwohl das Wasser in Tagaytay als vergleichsweise sauber gilt, ist es - wie in den meisten Regionen Südostasiens - doch sicherer, es vorher zu filtern, eine Arbeit, die bei uns ein auf den Wasserhahn geschraubter "Ecosphere Water Purifier", unter anderem mittels Einsatz von UV-Licht, verrichtet. Die Nutzung eines solchen Filters ist zwar nicht ganz billig, aber gut für Gesundheit und Umwelt (es werden ansonsten nötige enorme Mengen an Plastikflaschen eingespart, auf die wir vollständig verzichten). |
| Admittedly, @kobold-djawa comes into contact with induction and baking oven (which somehow always reminds me of an old transistor radio) much more often than I do, as I prefer to deal with the end products of her culinary art rather than their preparation. :-) | Mit Induktions- und Backofen (der mich irgendwie immer an ein altes Transistorradio erinnert) kommt @kobold-djawa zugegebenermaßen deutlich öfter in Berührung als ich, der ich mich lieber mit den Endprodukten ihrer Koch- und Backkunst als deren Zubereitung beschäftige. :-) |

The children's room is on the same level as the living room and kitchen. The magnetic door stopper can be seen at the bottom left of the picture. As it is pleasantly warm all year round in Tagaytay (and only relatively few mosquitoes reach the third floor), we can almost always leave the windows open. However, in the beginning the doors slammed loudly due to the frequent light breeze here, which is why the door stoppers proved to be a very useful measure. |
Auf derselben Ebene wie Wohnzimmer und Küche liegt das Kinderzimmer. Unten links im Bild ist der magnetische Türstopper zu erkennen. Da es in Tagaytay ganzjährig angenehm warm ist (und auch nur relativ wenige Moskitos bis ins dritte Stockwerk gelangen), können wir fast immer die Fenster geöffnet lassen. Allerdings schlugen anfangs aufgrund des hier häufig aufkommenden leichten Windes die Türen laut zu, weshalb die Türstopper sich als sehr sinnvolle Maßnahme erwiesen haben. |

| Like most of our furniture, this cabinet is made of acacia wood, which we chose for ecological reasons because it is very hard and resistant but (re)grows fast. | Wie die meisten unserer Möbel ist auch dieser Schrank aus Akazienholz gefertigt, für das wir uns ökologischen Gründen entschieden haben, weil es zwar sehr hart und widerstandsfähig ist, aber dennoch schnell (nach)wächst. |

| The bathrooms upstairs and downstairs are almost identical, although I would like to point out an Asian speciality here: instead of using toilet paper, you clean yourself with a strong water jet after using the toilet, a much more hygienic and environmentally friendly method in my opinion. | Die Bäder oben und unten sind fast identisch, wobei ich hier auf eine asiatische Besonderheit aufmerksam machen möchte: Statt mit Klopapier reinigt man sich nach dem Toilettenbesuch mit einem starken Wasserstrahler, eine m. E. deutlich hygienischere und umweltfreundlichere Methode. |
