Totem Poles with Animal Skulls!

image

Here's a collection at Roofless art studio of an animal skull, which they used it to decorate the totem poles on the roof top. If I'm not mistaken, some of the skulls are from a bull, cow, wild pigs, etc. Since the figures are different from each other. Our ancestors used an animal skull before not only for decoration, but according to the elders, the people in the Cordillera use this to decorate their house as a sign of abundance.

The studio has this different kind of collections because Cordilleras forest still provides an abundant source of wild meat for many families. Before, wild pigs, deer and birds are still commonly caught by hunters. Until now wild animals can be hunted usually in mountainous area of Mt. Province and also they still practiced this old tradition where they used an animal skull for display. I find it creepy but awesome at the same time.
