히로시마성에서 시작해 전쟁 당시의 흔적들을 따라 걷다 보면, 이제 히로시마를 대표하는 장소인 원폭돔(原爆ドーム)에 도착하게 된다. 지금은 원폭의 상징으로 가장 먼저 떠오르는 건물이지만, 원래부터 이런 모습이었던 것은 아니다. 원폭돔의 원래 이름은 히로시마현 물산진열관(広島県物産陳列館)이었다. 1915년에 완공된 건물로, 체코 출신 건축가 얀 레츨이 설계했다.
