Hello everyone! This is a quick post to commemorate the mining of Bitcoin Genesis block 10 years ago. On 3 Jan 2009, the first Bitcoin block was mined by Satoshi Nakamoto. He/She/They imbued the following message in Bitcoin's block 0,
"The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks"
The text was from a headline in the January 3rd, 2009 edition of The Times, a London-based newspaper. The article reported on the British government's failing to stimulate the economy following the 2008 financial crisis.
It isn't difficult to guess what Satoshi Nakamoto was trying to imply with the message. The whole idea of Bitcoin is to bring about a fundamental shift in how money works. To decouple government and money.
Fast forward to 10 years later, our financial system is still the same. Debt is rising at an unsustainable rate. More and more government are losing grip on their fiat currency system. I think it is time for a change and cryptocurrencies will be leading that change.
