Last Friday hundreds of protestors turned out to fight for Mills College to continue as a degree-granting institution on its own campus, as Cyrus and Susan Mills willed it. Many more tuned in for the livestreams, and there were protests in solidarity as far away as Nashville, Tennessee.

One of the stars of the day was SF Giants announcer, radio personality, baseball Hall of Famer and Mills alum Renel Brooks-Moon.

Renel also spoke about the impact Mills College had in her life in a recent interviewwith Storied SF
Neither Barbara Lee nor Lateefah Simon showed up, despite both alums previously committing to speak. President Beth Hillman didn't show up either, choosing to go on vacation rather than subject her family to hearing the cheers, honks, chants and songs of the many people fighting against her unpopular "Mills Institute" plan.
Barbara Lee issued a statement:
What now? One rally outside the gates isn't going to be enough to force the Board of Trustees to reconsider - just ask the 1990 strikers.
