Subduing Technique With Minimal Injury To The Assailant. Self Protection video #5

-As usual address the opponent with an open hand "Ready Position"

-As the assailant attacks (in this case using a low sweep) take an angled step back to gain distance.

-As the opponent's leg passes, close distance being careful to avoid the opponent's striking range. Gain position behind the attacker. (Timing is key here if you hesitate you will be in danger of being punched or kicked especially if the sweep is part of a combination of attacks.)

-Securing both arms, walk the assailant down taking his balance, bend your knees as you do so. trying to simply pull them down may not work on a stronger more agile opponent. Bending your knees to a squatting position allows you to use your body weight to assist you.

-Once they are down secure them with knees and hands if possible. BE CAREFUL TO NOT BEND OVER. Keep your back straight and posture natural.

-Wait for assistance or move to restrain further, depending on the situation.

As always,
Practice with safety in mind and use with care, Train Well!
