This weekend, 24-25 June 2017, the Portuguese community in Macau brought in one of the many festivals they celebrate. They call it "Arrial de S. João".
I was wondering though as to how they choose their location to celebrate this feast. Is it because this street has more buildings that are preserved? Or is it because of the name of the street? Not sure but in any case, it's a good location due to the ambiance.

And rows of booths welcomes you with Portuguese products like floor mats, some fancy jewelries, etc.
A festival won't be a festival without food! So there are lots booths that sell food and beverages. Of course, these are not just some ordinary Chinese food. They sell various Portuguese cuisine like ham, Portuguese sausage, and the most popular is the Portuguese cod fish balls. They also have their famous Sangria (Portuguese style).
We bought one for MOP20 so that's around USD2.5

At night, they have a band playing some Portuguese songs and people can just dance their heart out.

So every year, at the feast of St. John the Baptist, the Portuguese community in Macau have especially organized this event for local Chinese and other migrants to get a feel of their culture.
*this is my first post in steemit and I hope to be writing more about Macau since it's only known to be a gambling city, I hope I'll get to educate people that this small city has more to life than gambling.
