Not all residents of Sumy know about the existence of this Park, but for those who still knows about him, it is one of the favorite places for relaxation.
The Park was founded in the mid XIX century by merchant and breeder Ivan Asmolov, who bought the plot of land for building his home. From all over the world he brought back exotic varieties of plants, which he planted in his land. Its pedestrian walkways, and landscape edges, ponds, Alpine slides, flower beds were abandoned to their fate. The mansion, outbuildings and the park was turned into a shelter for orphan children. Later, in the prewar years on the basis of the dendropark was a sanatorium. During the occupation the German soldiers has placed their hospital here.
After the great Patriotic war, the Park was placed under the authority of Medical and health department and now it is a sanatorium for people who have suffered as a result of the Chernobyl accident.
