The Study of Rhetoric

The Study of Rhetoric

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - William Shakespeare

In the 21st Century who would of thought that public speaking is still an effective means of persuasion

How is this still possible...

Well, since the dawn of time our environment has changed rapidly, but humans are still pretty much the same. That means we're still predominately a language dependent species where the manipulation of words (Rhetoric) influences our perception.

But why is Rhetoric so powerful?

Rhetoric is just an art where the most skilled are well suited to speak in a persuasive way. In English Literature there are 'Rhetorical Devices' such as metaphors, similes, hyperbole, and much more. Those who master these devices will be the best in the art of rhetoric.

Seduction, does it work?

The historic seducers such as Casanova and Don Juan displayed immense persuasive techniques in art of conversation. And it worked, for them. In Casanova's time a skilled orator was seen as an attractive quality by male and female alike, and the same can be said today.

Seduction is that special something which women can't seem to resist. If a man wanted to make a conquest of a woman, he had to be a smooth talker. Ask any woman why she fell for a man, and you'll always hear the same answer, "He said the right things..." We all know what that means!
