Known as the Lobster Capital of the World, Rockland has developed an entire economy based on lobster catching. Each year, thousands of visitors make their way to Rockland to enjoy the annual Maine Lobster Festival as well as the North Atlantic Blue Festival. Along Main Street, visitors can sample excellent restaurants as well as shops, and the well-known Farnsworth Art Museums. Windjammer cruises are also popular among visitors who wish to explore the nearby islands. While sailing and stand up paddle boarding are also popular activities, many visitors prefer taking a stroll along the breakwater out to the lighthouse. image
