Happy WAITANGI DAY!!

Today in Aotearoa, New Zealand it is WAITANGI DAY!! The day in 1840 when Ti Tiriti o Waitangi (The treaty of Waitangi) Was signed by the British, and by Māori cheifs, in the North Island's beautiful Waitangi

Since then many protests have taken place. It's believed the British lied to the Māori people about what the treaty actually said, many things were lost in translation between the English & Māori versions of the treaty. Māori people were conned out of a lot of land, some is still being fought for today. And we still allow disrespectful douchebag New's Presenters, like Mike Hosking to mock the Māori language on air, and say it's a waste of time in front of the whole country. I guess some things never change. He has no idea! The Māori language (Te Reo) & culture is beautiful, and it is the OG New Zealand culture!

Nothing can take away from the culture, the celebrations, and the energy at Waitangi on Waitangi day. The best memories were spent sleeping on the Marae, jumping off the bridge (more like being pushed off) doing bombs in to the water, eating the beautiful Kai (food) and being surrounded by magic.
