Oggi con questo articolo voglio aprire una rubrica in cui parlerò del camper, e di tutto quello che lo riguarda. Spiegherò come lo abbiamo adattato per renderlo confortevole per viverci, dei problemi che si sono presentati (e se ne sono presentati!), di come li abbiamo risolti e magari dare qualche idea o consiglio per chi ci segue.
Con il primo articolo di questa rubrica vi presenterò Rino Camperino!
Si tratta di un ford transit del ‘98 con camperizzazione della Elnagh, 2500 di cilindrata fino a poco tempo fa turbodiesel ( il “fino a poco tempo fa” ve lo spiegherò nei prossimi articoli), 7 m (5 di cassa e 2 di cabina), 5 posti letto.

With this article I’d like to open a new serie of articles in which I’ll talk about the camper and anything related to it. I’ll explain how we adapted it to make it liveable, I’ll talk about the problems we encountered -and there have been many- and how we managed to solve them.
Finally I’ll tell you a couple of ideas or suggestions for whom’s following us.
With this first article we’d like to introduce you Rino Camperino!
It’s a Ford Transit from ‘98 remodeled by Elnagh, cylinder-capacity of 2500 cm and turbodiesel up to a few months ago (and there’s a reason for that, I’ll tell you in the next articles).
It’s 7 meters (about 22 feet) wide and it has 5 sleeping accomodations.
Ora vi parlo un pò della nostra casetta. Come vi ho detto ha 5 posti letto, dei quali ne utilizziamo solo uno per questo scopo, ovvero quello sulla mansarda situato sopra il tettuccio della cabina del guidatore. Come saprete gli altri letti solitamente nei camper sono scomponibili per poterli utilizzare come tavolo.
Nel nostro caso uno lo abbiamo adibito a divano, per due motivi: il primo è l’ottimizzazione dello spazio, essendo in due, avere un tavolo in mezzo al camper limita notevolmente i movimenti; il secondo motivo è che in questo modo riusciamo ad avere anche una zona giorno per potersi rilassare e poter passare del tempo con gli amici più o meno come in un salotto. L'altro letto, più piccolo (una piazza), è invece il nostro tavolo con 2 posti giusti.
Now it’s time to talk about our home. As I said, it has 5 sleeping places, but we only use one of them, the one above the driver’s seat. As you may know, the other beds in a camper are usually decomposable in order to be used as tables.
In our case the second bed (a double one) is being used as a sofa mainly for two reasons.
The first is space optimization - being two people in the camper the space might become too small easily.
The second reason is that this way we gain some space to relax during the day and to spend some time with friends, more or less like a living room.
The third bed is used as a table; it has exactly two seats.
Passiamo alla cucina, è composta da due fornelli, da un piccolo frigo, dal lavello, 2 pensili, nei quali suddividiamo cibo, pentole e tutto il necessario per cucinare e un mobileto in basso dove riponiamo le cose per pulire.
Let’s talk about the kitched. It’s made of two stoves, a small fridge, a sink, two
wall units and a small piece of furniture in which we put food, pots and pans, and anything useful to cook on the upper part, and cleaning stuff at the bottom.
Il bagno si trova in fondo sulla sinistra, all’interno si trovano doccia, lavandino e gabinetto. A parer mio è troppo grande rispetto alle ristrette dimensioni di un camper, non la pensa come me Heva che invece lo adora.
The bathroom is on the back part, on the left (by sitting inside). It has a shower, a sink and the toilet. In my opinion it’s too big compared to the other parts of the camper, but Heva loves it.
Vi sono inoltre altri due pensili gemelli situati sopra al divano utilizzati uno per il mio armadio e uno per vari oggetti tra giochi da tavola, attrezzi da lavoro ecc. ecc.
Sul fondo del camper, tra il tavolo e il bagno, si trova invece un grande armadio a tre ripiani, praticamente tutto di Heva fatta eccezione di qualche coperta e lenzuola.
Sopra al tavolo, invece, ci sono delle mensole che usiamo come libreria.
Sotto le sedute del tavolo si trovano 2 gavoni comunicanti indispensabili per riporre molti oggetti (un piccolo ripostiglio insomma...), mentre sotto le sedute del divano si trovano i 2 gavoni dell’acqua con un piccolo spazio in più anch’essi utilizzati come ripostiglio.
There are also two wall units above the sofa. I use one of those as a closet, and the other for different things like board games, tools, and so on.
On the back of the camper between the table and the bathroom there’s a big wardrobe with three shelves, basically owned almost entirely by Heva, plus some blankets.
Under the table there are two indispensable lockers used as a storage room.
Under the table we use as a sofa there are two water tanks and some other space used as storage.
Come potete vedere Rino Camperino non ha niente da invidiare a un monolocale, anzi ha due enormi vantaggi: le ruote e il motore.
Può sembrare inizialmente di dover fare dei sacrifici per vivere con il minimo indispensabile, ma con il tempo apprezzi l’eliminazione del superfluo e ti innamori della Libertà che ti porta ad avere, almeno così è stato per noi.
As you can see, Rino Camperino has nothing less than a small house, plus two huge advantages: the wheels and the engine.
It may seem like there are many sacrifices to do in order to live with the minimum, but after some time you may appreciate that, and you may fall in love with the freedom tha comes with it.
Or at least, this was our experience.
