Speakeasy bar crawl San Diego

Despite the fact that American Prohibition hasn't been around since 1933 (thank you, 21st Amendment :-), the taboo interest of liquor still holds a specific appeal, even if it’s not actually illegal anymore. The present speakeasies offer up a taste of the excitement that made the bars back in the day scandalous throughout the world. From underground cantinas to secret key anchored back rear ways, my friends and I decided to discover some of the coolest speakeasy bars in San Diego.

False Idol
Martin Cate is one of the key creators behind this amazing Tiki Temple in Little Italy. He's also the owner of the Smuggler's Cove in San Francisco, the country's preeminent destination for rum and tiki drinks. Every square inch of the space is covered in custom themed carvings and the drinks are to die for.

Noble Experiment
Even though the secret is now out and the bar is so popular that you'll need a reservation to get in, it's still worth it. What resembles a pile of barrels by the restroom is actually an entryway that'll lead you to a bar. The decor could be best described as vampire's sanctuary meets French mausoleums. You can order from their regular menu of high quality mixed drinks or take a risk with the Dealer's Choice - a barkeep will create something special for you and they quite often nail it. Cheers!

Vin De Syrah
This gem is a wine and spirit parlor, that is very unique to any other bar and lounge in the San Diego area. Inspired by the lounges of New York's “meatpacking district” and the warm brasseries in Paris. Great drinks and wine selection. We ended our night here with lots of laughs, drinks and dancing.

I'm sure there're many more amazing bars that we're yet to discover but that's for another night haha. Have you guys checked out any speakeasy bars in your town? Or maybe you know about some other cool places in San Diego. Let me know. I'll be sure to check them out.
