Disney's Magical Moments on Orchard Road, Singapore (Christmas 2018) ✨

Hey Steemians! I'm officially back from my month-long hiatus. I have officially finished this school semester and thank God my report card turned out okay. To celebrate, I flew out to Singapore for 4 days to unwind from hectic Jakarta, hoping to catch Singapore's annual christmas street displays like this one. Their displays are always quite impressive, and are almost always demonstrated on Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping and commercial district. The exhibit this year is presented by Disney, which makes it even more dazzling. Of course, I went to Orchard Road in the evening to check out the display in all its glory, like many others who came to see it do, so unsurprisingly the streets and sidewalks were packed with tourists as well as locals. I walked around the area just to see what the fuss is all about. Here are some of the moments I captured.

Those were the beautifully lined up LED lights along the northern side of Orchard Road towards Somerset which was truly a feast for the eyes. There were a bunch of pedestrians crossing the street who stopped to take pictures of the display, including myself. The theme on these set of light displays were Mickey Mouse, where they had light configurations customised for all the Disney blockbusters and characters, which included Disney Princesses, Mickey Mouse, Toy Story, and Frozen. They were all on different sides of Orchard, and I managed to capture Mickey's street.

There were also a lot of directory maps around the perimeter that helped me navigate throughout the area, so although there were a lot of visitors that I night I still managed to go to the places I needed to be with ease.

A lot of photo booths such as that one were also built along the Orchard Road sidewalk. There were some mini game stands too like hoops, skee ball, and darts. You will receive a Disney themed merchandise if you win, but you still needed to pay to participate in the mini games.

I also visited one of the Disney Princess attractions in Wheelock Place, a shopping centre on Orchard. There was a pretty long queue for pictures inside Cinderella's carriage and castle frame which consisted of mostly children with their families and tourists. I walked around Orchard until I reached my starting point again, and took pictures of the display in front of ION Orchard. Some of them weren't Disney-themed, like this beautiful Cartier ferris wheel which was surprisingly completely functioning as an actual ferris wheel were people could purchase a ticket to hop on despite of its considerately small size.

Well, I think that concludes my Orchard Road christmas experience! I definitely recommend anyone to visit Singapore, especially during christmas because I find it truly magical during the holiday season. Singapore really outdid itself this time, where it really didn't take any chances in presenting what it's capable of to the world. So finally all I have to say is that I wish you all a very merry christmas and a happy new year! 🎄🎉
