RE: Scarcity in a World of Abundance? Why?

Without wanting to sound like a Scientologist or anything, I think half of solution lies in the 'removal' of toxic personalities from positions of power.

For everyone 100 people out there, more than half are generally decent and reasonable people, who are just trying to get by. We all have our own foibles and idiosyncrasies, but as a rule of thumb, the so called 'silent majority' is more or less grounded and pleasant to deal with.

Then you have another percentage of generally mean-spirited, anti-social people. Some suffer from mild personality disorders, but the fact they don't yield any significant financial or political power means they don't pose any real danger to the rest of us.

It is only when this class of sociopaths is allowed to climb in the ranks , that we really have a problem. You have a small sub-set of ruthless, driven, high-functioning sociopaths who will trample on anyone in the name of success.

If we can someone get the silent majority to impose societal 'sanctions' against these critters in the early stages of the power process, I feel we might be able to alleviate the situation.

This can come in a variety of ways, and through small things like standing up to a sycophantic co-worker trying to gain favor with the boss, or starting your own business, so that you can hire people and treat them with a modicum of respect.

Sorry for the dissertation, but this is a topic I think about quite often. It's good to see there are people out there who share my thoughts and apprehensions.
