A trip to the Lake District wouldn't be complete without visiting Lake Windermere. Windermere is the largest lake in England - 10.5 miles long and 220 feet deep - and is popular with tourists from around the world for it's scenery and boating.
To get the most out of trip we decided to do a multi-leg boat trip that included some walking between ferry points.

The first stop for the ferry was at Wray Castle, which is in fact not a real castle at all, rather it is a mock-gothic castle that was built in 1840.

The structure is now owned by the National Trust and is open to the public.
The view of the lake from Wray Castle was magnificent! Well worth visiting.

From Wray Castle we walked about 4miles along the edge of the lake to another National Trust site, the Claife Viewing Platform.

From here it was another ferry crossing to Bowness, amongst the other water users...
