Hello friends! Welcome to my home, and I hope you are having a lovely start to the long weekend. I received a few great curios this week; the first one that I'm pretty excited about is my (antique, but new to me) human skull. This is such a rite of passage for any collector, and I am thrilled to welcome this gentleman into my home. After waiting for the right skull for around half a decade, I finally got this beautiful piece from Grotesque Anomaly and it is everything I could have hoped for! This skull was an adult male at the time of death, and lost his jawbone somewhere along the way. To me, he is absolutely perfect and I adore having him to keep me company while I'm watching TV!
I also picked up this coffin plate recently; coffin plates are used as an adornment to a casket or coffin, sometimes inscribed with the deceased's name and birth+death date. This one says simply: "At Rest." It is in beautiful condition.
My last recent addition is this spooky mask reminiscent of a Doctor's mask during the Black Death. They've been increasing in popularity during 2020, so I figured I'd hop on the bandwagon and get one for the house. It makes a great photo prop and conversation piece!
In non-spooky news, I've been busy trying to keep the dogs entertained during the August heat wave; today, we finally got to go outside to the backyard to play some fetch and run around. I love our beautiful view from the backyard; on winter days, I love to sit and gaze out at the mountains with a cold drink. On warm days, I have to fight to keep the mosquitos from eating me alive.
Last month, our pug Hepburn made friends with our neighbors' goat. It's such an adorable sight to watch them stop to say hello and try to figure each other out. He's also very vocal, and loves to announce his displeasure when his puggy friend has to go home.
I can't wait for this heat wave to be over so I can get back to a routine of cooking and baking. What has everyone else been up to lately?
