Simply, a curation trail is a collection of steem authors like @muddymo as follower.. This will let you automatically upvote every post the trailer upvotes... Basically when Muddy Mo (or anyone else in the curation trail) votes on something you do as well, automatically. In @muddymo we all will follower each other, so everybody is voting on good content together! More steem for everybody!
