Self-Introduction Challenge: Let’s Get to Know Each Other!

@travelfeed

Hey, I’m Wafaa!

I’ll be turning 26 next April. Sigh, I feel like I’m getting old already! Honestly, it’s kind of funny because I’m still a student, and that stresses me out a little, haha. Being in school at this age sometimes makes me feel like I’m behind, but it’s also been a journey full of growth and discovery. I’ve switched my field of study several times. Some of that’s on me, but a lot of it has to do with the education system in Tunisia. It’s a whole story, but I’ll save that for another time—trust me, I’ll explain how the system works in a future post! So, stick around if you're curious about how things go down in Tunisian universities ;)

A little more about me: I used to live in Tunisia’s capital city, Tunis, which is busy and full of life. But now, I’ve relocated to Djerba Island, which is currently listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List! Djerba is honestly such a stunning place, with its endless olive trees, tall palm trees, and, of course, its incredible beaches. The sea here is just breathtaking, and it brings a sense of peace that’s hard to find elsewhere. If you ever get the chance to visit, you’ll see why I feel so lucky to live here—it’s calm, it’s beautiful, and it’s nothing like the busy city life I used to have.

So, what am I doing with my life right now? Well, I’m in my second year studying English literature, and I’ll finally graduate next year. Honestly, I’m pretty excited about finishing up my degree, but I’m also thinking about what comes next. I’m seriously considering pursuing a master’s degree in international communication. It’s a field that fascinates me because it combines language, culture, and how people connect globally, and I think it would be the perfect continuation of my academic journey.

My Hobbies

Funny thing, though—I had no idea about Hive Keychain until my soulmate introduced me to it. He’s the one who encouraged me to create an account, and he gave me a little push to improve my English skills (and, let’s be real, to make some money too, hehe). I’m really grateful for his support, and now I’m looking for yours as well as I take on this new adventure! It’s an exciting way to learn and grow while also building something useful for my future.

When it comes to hobbies, I’ve got quite a few! First off, I’m obsessed with chess. I’ve been playing for a while now, and my current Elo rating is 1145. My big goal is to hit 1500, and I’m working hard to get there. Chess is such a mental game, and I love how it challenges you to think ahead and strategize. It’s like a battle of minds, and I always find myself getting lost in the moves and tactics. Even though I haven’t reached my goal yet, chess has taught me a lot about patience and persistence.

Another hobby of mine is drawing, especially portrait art. I used to spend hours sketching faces, trying to capture emotions and expressions through pencil and paper. But, to be honest, I’ve lost a bit of my passion for it lately. It’s like the inspiration just faded. I haven’t been drawing as much because of that, but I’m hoping to get back into it when the time feels right. I know the passion is still there; it’s just waiting for the right moment to return.

Speaking of passions, I’ve also fallen in love with rock climbing! My close friend Hazem, who, fun fact, might just be my future husband (haha), introduced me to it. At first, I was absolutely terrified—heights were definitely not my thing! But Hazem was so patient with me, and as I got more comfortable, I started to really enjoy it. Climbing has not only helped me conquer my fear of heights, but it’s also been a way for me to challenge myself in new ways. Thanks to Hazem, I’ve also made new friends through climbing! We actually share a lot of interests, like chess, but here’s the funny part—I still haven’t managed to beat him in a game! One day, I’ll get there, though!

Who I Am

I’ve talked a lot about my hobbies, but let me tell you a bit about my personality. I’d say I’m an ambivert. Some days, I’m super chill, laid-back, and just want to reflect quietly. Other days, I’m full of energy, ready to socialize and have fun. I guess it depends on the day and the vibe around me. But one thing I know for sure is that I really value being around positive people. I love those who help me grow, challenge me to think differently, and inspire me to become a better version of myself.

Family is everything to me. They’re my biggest source of happiness and support, and I don’t know what I’d do without them. My family is always there for me, and that’s why I try to stay optimistic, no matter what life throws my way. I always try to see the glass as half full. Even when things don’t go as planned or when I face failure, I don’t let it keep me down for long. I’ve learned to embrace challenges, knowing that setbacks are just part of the journey. As long as I stay focused on my goals, I believe I can overcome anything.

Thank you so much for reading my story! I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit about me. Can’t wait to share more soon!
