India's beloved Chicken Biryani Recipe (Using Pressure Cooker)

Hello Everyone,
Today I am going to share one of the india's beloved dish. Whether its Kashmir or Kanyakumari you may have heard about one or other variation of this dish. Usually it take a lot of prep time to make but I am share you a simple method using the pressure cooker.

Ingredients

  • Chicken 1/2 Kgs
  • Rice - 2 cups (Basmati preferred)
  • Cooking Oil.
  • 4 Medium Onions - Finely chopped
  • 2 Tomatoes - Finely chopped
  • 4-5 Green Chilly
  • Ginger Garlic Paste
  • Whole Garam Masala
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Chilly Powder
  • Biryani Powder
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Mint leaves
  • Salt

Step 1 - Soak the rice in water for 20-30mins. Keep that aside.

Step 2 - While rice is getting soaked. Marinate the Chicken in the a mixture of turmeric, coriander, chilly powder and ginger garlic paste. Add little oil to keep the moisture in. Keep the marination for 20mins.

Step 3 - Take the pressure cooker. And heat cooking oil 3-4 tablespoons. Add whole garam masala. Add sliced onions and saute it till the color is light brown.

Step 4 - Add chopped tomatoes. Add Salt to the mix. Leave it for 5mins . Add Coriander leaves and Mint leaves.

Step 5 - Add marinated chicken to the cooker. And cook for about 8-10mins. keep stirring in between to keep the chicken from sticking to cooker.

Step 6 - Add the soaked rice and 4cups of water to the cooker and stir well. Cover the cooker lid.

Step 7 - Let the whistle count go to 3 and switch off the flame. Once the pressure goes off. Open the lid and let excess steam escape. If the water is high. Put the cooker back on the low flame with open lid and keep cooking till all the water is gone.

Step 8 - Hot and delicious Chicken Briyani is ready to be served
