Evil Mind & Enemy Ego [ENG]

I haven't learned. I struggle to change some things. That's the conclusion I've reached right now, after a few days of inner turmoil, and almost outer turmoil too, because everything around me was causing me anxiety, while I was also becoming anxious myself. And all over something so trivial. That's what anyone would say... but not for me, well, not for my malevolent mind that feeds on an ego that needs things to feel good and superior. Conflict? Inferiority? Or insecurity? Yes, I think I feel insecure about what I'm doing, about what will come with all this, and fear is at the root of it all, driving that anxiety... the anxiety that everything will repeat itself, that things will go wrong or not the way I want them to, again. Another failure, another year of existential doom, I can't even think about it. And that's why my mind decides to cling to anything. Even to exam grades. Because a couple of years ago I decided to start over, studying for a new degree. And the feelings have been good, very good. It's true there have been intense and tough moments, early mornings and nerves, but the usual, and always for the better, even very much so. I've even been pleasantly surprised. And I interpreted that as a sign that I was finally on the right path. But this second semester has been different. Harder, poorly scheduled dates, more inconvenient times, worse professors, much more material—several different circumstances have converged in the same few weeks. And I've gotten tired, physically and mentally; even my eyesight has suffered, with headaches and having to change my glasses more often, even some I already had. But I had to overcome everything and I wanted to do well, so I started early on giving it my all, and that's what I did, and it went well. But effort takes its toll, and deep down, in some subjects I thought I had mastered, I began to feel insecure. How is it possible that the language course was where I felt least confident? And that has been reflected in reality. The ones I thought would be the hardest I handled very well. Well, if I were to get back to my most extreme level of perfectionism, I could have put a little more effort into one of them, but I was tired and wanted to leave, so I didn't think twice and just left it as is. In others, I did what I could, with my energy, my knowledge, and the time I had. But things happened. In the one I was convinced would be the easiest, I froze. Since I had a solid foundation, I did well; in fact, anyone would say I got a very good grade. But someone with less knowledge or experience would say, "She beat me," and I lost my top mark this time. That has broken me inside, because that language subject was special to me; it was my fourth year, and I had the highest grades in the previous three. Now I don't, and I've developed a fear and insecurity for next year's subjects, the fifth and sixth. I thought about dropping out of my degree. What's the point of doing it if the subject I chose to study for is no longer the one I feel most confident in? And I started thinking that nothing made sense, that this degree wouldn't open any doors for me... suddenly, this whole new world I was beginning to build started to crumble. Everything seems so dramatic over a couple of tenths of a point. An obsession that even affects me physically. And coincidences meant that I found out just minutes before going to take the last exam, already completely exhausted. And I noticed it. I tried to tell my mind to stop, to shut up and leave me alone so I could finish that last test somehow. I started talking to it to calm it down, but my ego was already raging, blaming me. I blamed myself for failing, while I was taking another exam that I could just as easily fail if I didn't do something. I had a panic attack while I had the paper in front of me. I gripped the table with my hands and breathed. I told myself I had to concentrate on what I was doing, to finish, that this was the only one left. I finished. The written essay wasn't the best I could have done, I know that, but under those circumstances... (I still don't know the results, which makes me nervous, but I have to relax and accept things as they are.) And what are they? I try to tell my mind and my disappointed ego that we're not always the same, that a sheet of paper with some questions can't define my entire identity, can't render my effort meaningless, that I'm so much more and I have nothing left to prove. In fact, in another competition I came in first in a large group, so that's not valued, I don't value it, my mind doesn't value it? We always focus on the negative, well, in this case, on those few tenths of a point less that make competing with others unbearable. A competition where my feelings of inferiority, carried for years, surface at the slightest provocation, revealing a traumatized part of me that I didn't want to admit. The sadness that has persisted over the years, the lack of appreciation after so many efforts, the lack of results, the unexpected loneliness, the loss of direction and vocation stirred something within me, a pain that persists even though I try to overcome it, or at least understand it. Now, after a few days of utter irrationality, when I could finally rest, I'm trying to understand those feelings and actions. Why some things happen, and what purpose they serve. To learn, but not to learn intellectual content written on pages, but to learn to know myself, to understand myself, to have compassion and stop beating myself up. That's it, my mind can't continue to be my worst enemy forever; it must help me overcome challenges and comfort me when needed. It can't just strive for the best results solely to inflate an ego that, deep down, has a certain complex—ugh, that's hard to admit. But I'm doing it, at least so that the absurd turmoil I've experienced serves some useful purpose in my personal growth. Because life isn't all about studying, working, achieving tangible results, and surpassing others. It's about getting to know yourself better and seeing how you can improve certain things you've been carrying around. That's life's true challenge and test: this inner evolution. So I have to understand a few things. My ego needs to recover. I know I'm worthwhile, period. It doesn't matter what others think (I'm on my way, but I know it sometimes gets out of control). Then there's the mind. It's very powerful, but it can't be that it sometimes works against me and torments me. There are so many beautiful memories, experiences, and trips... but it goes looking for painful, gray, and sad moments. Why? And it's all been accumulating over the years without me even realizing it, and now, a few tenths of a point are destroying me, when they shouldn't really affect me except for my false pride. Do I aspire to be a machine of academic perfection? It's absurd, but it seems that only a few numbers soothe my ego, and is that all I am?

I hope not. I'm not going to let it go; I know I have to change that way of thinking, and feeling, and suffering, I would say. I've already been through a personal hell, but if I'm here now, it's precisely because I've already been through it, overcome it, and left it behind. Now it's time to live differently, feeling differently, doing everything differently. And thus be able to leave hell and go towards paradise, which for me is returning to life, to a new life that, after the harsh demolition, I'm rebuilding, yes, with hope, so that, as Dante said, I can see the stars again. Well, today I'm much calmer, and finally, with some time to spare, I've used writing to reflect aloud and publicly, to face the situation head-on, to vent, both to you all and to myself. I hope it wasn't too boring or too strange. Now I'll take advantage of the summer to relax, do other things, enjoy the beach, and enjoy life.

Mente Maligna Y Ego Enemigo [ESP]

No he aprendido. Me cuesta cambiar algunas cosas. Esa es la conclusión a la que llego ahora misma, tras unos días de tormenta interior y también casi exterior, porque todo alrededor me angustiaba, mientras yo misma me angustiaba también.

Y todo por una pequeñez. Eso diría cualquiera... pero para mí no ha sido así, bueno, para mi mente maligna que se alimenta de un ego que necesita de cosas para sentirse bien y superior. ¿Conflicto? ¿Inferioridad? o ¿Inseguridad? Sí, creo que me siento insegura de lo que estoy haciendo, de lo que vendrá con todo esto, y el miedo está en el fondo dirigiendo esa ansiedad... la ansiedad a que todo se repita, a que las cosas salgan mal o como no quiero que sean, de nuevo. Otro fracaso, otros años de perdición existencial, no puedo ni pensarlo. Y por eso mi mente decide aferrarse a cualquier cosa.

Incluso a las notas de unos exámenes. Porque hace un par de años ya decidí empezar de nuevo, estudiando una nueva carrera. Y las sensaciones han sido buenas, muy buenas, es verdad que ha habido momentos intensos y duros, madrugones y nervios, pero lo normal, y siempre para bien, incluso para muy bien, me he llegado a sorprender positivamente. E interpreté eso como una señal de que era el camino, por fin.

Pero este segundo semestre ha sido diferente. Más duro, fechas mal puestas, horarios más incómodos, peores profesores, mucha más materia, se han juntado varias circunstancias diferentes en unas mismas semanas. Y me he cansado, a nivel físico y mental; incluso mi vista se ha visto resentida, con dolores de cabeza y teniendo que combinar las gafas más a menudo, incluso otras que tenía. Pero tenía que superar todo y quería hacerlo bien, así que empecé pronto a dar lo mejor de mí misma, así fue, y fue bien. Pero el esfuerzo se paga, y en el fondo, en alguna materia que consideré tener más superada comencé a sentir inseguridad, ¿como es posible que en la de la lengua fuese donde menos segura me sentía?

Y eso se ha reflejado en la realidad. Los que pensaba que serían más difíciles los he superado muy bien, bueno, si me pongo de nuevo en mi nivel más extremo de perfeccionismo, en uno de ellos podía haber puesto un poquito más, pero estaba cansada y me quería ir, así que no pensé más y lo dejé así. En otros hice lo que pude, con mi energía, con lo que sabía y con el tiempo que había. Pero pasaron cosas.

En el que estaba convencida que sería más fácil, me bloqueé, como tenía base lo he sacado bien, de hecho, cualquiera diría que tenía una nota muy buena, pero otra persona con menos conocimiento o bagaje diría, me ha superado y he perdido la matr´culoa de honor esta vez. Eso me ha roto por dentro, porque esa asignatura de lengua para mí era la especial, era la 4, y en las 3 anteriores tenía la mejor nota, ahora ya no, y he cosechado un miedo e inseguridad para las del año que viene, 5 y 6. Pensé en dejarme la carrera, ¿qué sentido tiene hacerla si la asignatura por la que decidí hacerla no es ya para mí aquella en la que me siento más segura? Y empecé a pensar que nada tenía sentido, que esa carrera no me abriría ningún camino tampoco... de repente todo ese nuevo mundo que estaba comenzando a construir se empezó a venir abajo.

Todo parece muy dramático por un par de décimas de un número. Una obsesión que me afecta a nivel físico incluso. Y las causalidades hicieron que me enterase poco minutos antes de ir hacer el último examen, ya muy agotada. Y lo noté, intenté decirle a mi mente que parara, que se callara y que me dejara tranquila para poder acabar esa última prueba como fuera, empecé a hablarle para tranquilizarla, pero mi ego ya estaba muy enfadado, me echaba la culpa, yo me culpaba por fallar, mientras hacía otro examen en el que en ese mismo momento podría acabar equivocándome igualmente si no hacía algo. Me dio un ataque de ansiedad mientras tenía la hoja delante, me agarré con las manos a la mesa y respiré, me dije a mi misma que tenía que concentrarme en lo que estaba haciendo, para acabar, que solo quedaba ese. Terminé, la parte escrita de desarrollo no fue la mejor que podía haber hecho, eso lo sé, pero en esas circunstancias... (Aún no sé los resultados, eso me pone nerviosa, pero tengo que relajarme y aceptar las cosas como son).

¿Y como son? Intento decirle a mi mente y a mi ego decepcionado que no siempre estamos igual, que una hoja con unas preguntas no pueden significar toda mi identidad, no pueden convertir mi esfuerzo en la nada, que soy mucho más y no tengo ya nada que demostrar. De hecho, en otro he ido la primera de un grupo grande, ¿y eso entonces no se valora, no lo valoro, no lo valora mi mente? Nos quedamos siempre con lo malo, bueno, en este caso, con esas décimas menos que convierten la corporación con otros en insoportable. Una competición en la que mi sentimiento de inferioridad arrastrado durante años aflora a la más mínima, con un ser que vive dentro que está traumatizado y no quería admitirlo. La tristeza continuada con los años, la poca valoración tras muchos esfuerzos, la falta de resultados, la soledad inesperada, la pérdida de rumbo y de vocación provocaron en mi algo, un dolor que sigue existiendo aunque intente superarlo, o al menos comprenderlo.

Estoy ahora tras unos días de irracionalidad total, cuando justo al acabar podía descansar, intentando comprender esos sentimientos y acciones. El porqué pasan algunas cosas, y para qué. Para aprender, pero no para aprender contenidos intelectuales escritos en hojas, sino para aprender a conocerme, para entenderme, para tener compasión y dejar de machacarme. Ya está, mi mente no puede seguir siendo mi peor enemiga siempre, debe ayudarme a superar retos y a consolarme en los momentos necesarios, no puede querer solo conseguir los mejores resultados únicamente para inflar a un ego que en el fondo tiene cierto complejo, uff, eso cuesta mucho de admitir.

Pero lo hago, al menos que, el absurdo sofocón que he tenido, sirva para algo útil en mi crecimiento personal. Porque en la vida no todo es estudiar, trabajar, resultados objetivos, superar a otros, sino llegar a conocerse mejor y ver cómo es posible poder mejorar ciertas cosas que vamos arrastrando, eso es el verdadero reto y examen de la vida, esa evolución desde dentro.

Así que tengo que entender algunas cosas, el ego tiene que recuperarse, yo sé que valgo, y punto, da igual lo que piensen los demás (estoy en camino pero sé que a veces se me descontrola), luego, la mente, tiene mucha fuerza pero no puede ser que a veces vaya en mi contra y me mortifique. Ahí están tantos recuerdos bonitos, de experiencias y viajes... pero se va a buscar momentos dolorosos, grises y tristes, ¿por qué? Y todo se ha ido acumulando en años, sin darme cuenta, y ahora, unas pequeñas décimas acaban conmigo, cuando no van a afectarme en realidad salvo en el orgullo falso. ¿Acaso pretendo ser una máquina de perfección académica? Es absurdo, pero parece que solo unos números tranquilizan a mi ego, y ¿soy yo solo eso?

Espero que no. No voy a dejarlo estar, sé que tengo que ir cambiando esa forma de pensar, y de sentir, y de sufrir diría yo. Ya pasé por un infierno personal, pero si estoy aquí y ahora, es precisamente porque ya lo pasé, lo superé y lo dejé atrás. Ahora toca vivir de otra manera, sintiendo diferente, haciendo todo diferente. Y así poder salir del infierno e ir hacia el paraíso, que para mí es volver a la vida, a una nueva vida que tras la dura demolición estoy volviendo a construir, sí con ilusión, para, como decía Dante, volver a ver las estrellas. Pues nada, hoy ya más serena, y por fin, con algo de tiempo, he usado la escritura para reflexionar en alto y en público, para ver la situación de frente, para desahogarme, con vosotros y conmigo misma.
