The year is 2074, the world has been plunged into darkness. One girl, Sarah Doe, will learn the secrets of the dark forces that run the ruined world. Scene: Headmistress Matthew’s office. The orphan from the roof top is staring at the floor in from of the HM’s desk.
Or: Yes, ma’am, I’m sure it was her. And she was with some man.
HM: They swore she was dead!
Or: That’s what you told us. I was just as shocked as…
HM: Tell no one else! Or you will really will be dead!
Or: Yes, ma’am….
The orphan slowly backs out of the office. Matthews picks up the phone.
HM: Send me the Seven at once! I don’t care if they are on mission, call them back! They have something more important to answer to!
Scene: Sam’s warehouse, Sarah and Sam are sparring.
Sam: Hit harder!
Sar: I’m trying! How long do we have to do this?
Sam: Until you believe you can defeat the Seven. You are strong but outnumbered.
Sar: Who says I want to do that? I just want to avoid them and take care of myself.
Sam: We can’t be too sure the headmistress won’t expand her territory. She’s already got new routes.
Sar: I need a break.
She reaches into her bag and pulls out the goggles she found.
Sar: Oh yeah, I wanted to get a better look at these.
Sam: Those old night vision goggles? They probably don’t work anymore.
Sar: Hey, it’s worth a try, night missions are fun, might be more so if I can see.
She fidgets with them a bit and finds a switch. She activates it and they turn on.
Sam: Well, I guess I was wrong.
Sarah puts them on.
Sar: Wait… what? What is this?
Sam: What do you mean?
She hands them to him. He puts them up to his face.
Sam: This isn’t night vision. It’s augmented reality. I haven’t seen this tech in years, not since the clouds. But these goggles are really primitive. Someone down here must have just been tinkering with it, I doubt they will work here.
Sar: What do they do?
Sam: Well, you see, the people in the clouds used them to get information about items they looked at, like the price or ingredients. You could also use them for directions. Sometimes they were used for entertainment, like AR video games.
Sar: Video what?
Sam: Yeah, like I said, it’s a cloud thing. They were beginning to implant neurological chips when I got kicked out, these old headsets were becoming obsolete. I didn’t get to use them though as they were reserved for party members.
Sar: So why won’t they work here?
Sam: AR relies on GPS data and way points. They knew what you were looking at based on where you were, or on barcodes on the products. We don’t have those down here.
Sar: Ah. Well. I still think they look cool. And the mask fits better then the ones I found in that old dump.
Sam: Suit yourself. We should probably get one more run in before nightfall.
