The year is 2074, the world has been plunged into darkness. One girl, Sarah Doe, will learn the secrets of the dark forces that run the ruined world. With the help of a few friends, her family, and her own powers she will fight to return the world to an order not known since well before her birth. Will she succeed? Read to find out!

Scene:
Library, Sarah is searching rooms.
S:(There has to be an airlock somewhere…)
She finds a heavy metal door.
S: (Yes!)
She opens the door and finds a keypad. She presses a few buttons but nothing happens.
S: (Ugh. Must be a bad wire somewhere…tools…)
She walks down a hallway a bit until she finds a janitor closet. She enters and a rat scurries into the corner.
S: (Ooo, dinner.)
She grabs a broom and wacks the rat a few times until it stops screeching.
S: I’ll come back for you.
She rummages through the shelves until she finds a tool kit. There are various screwdrivers, a hammer, a blowtorch, box cutters, and other miscellaneous tools.
S: Bingo.
She goes back to the airlock and gets to work taking apart the keypad. Finding nothing wrong with it she follows the wires to a small generator and a box attached to the wall. She opens a small panel on the box and tweaks a few wires.
S: (Good thing the doctor had those electrician’s books… Weird dude, but definitely prepared.)
She returns to the keypad and presses a few buttons. The generator starts to hum and air starts coming through a few vents on the ceiling.
S: Sweet. Now to get my dinner.
She returns to the janitor closet only to find two rats eating the dead rat.
S: Hey! That’s mine!
She takes the broom and beats the other rats to death.
S: I guess some of that brainwashing does come in handy.
Scene: A little while later, Sarah is in the air locked room with a small fire of old chairs and is eating the last bits of rat. She has found a lantern and the fire and lantern give the room an odd glow.
S: (Not the best meal I’ve had, but it will suffice for now. Tomorrow I have to find better supplies.)
She stirs the fire out, the last of the smoke is sucked into the filtration system. Sarah smiles.
S: (I’m glad I got that working. Can’t eat with a mask on. I really hope Ruby’s friends show up soon. I hope they didn’t give up on me.)
She turns off the lantern and lays down to sleep.
